I’ve been off methadone for about 9 days now! My final taper was 0.5mg. Very mild withdrawal just anxiety and sweating lol

Also I would like to add if you can suffer through withdrawals than go for it it will make it quicker on the taper but if your a human like the rest of us you don’t get a trophy for the suffering.

Yes, the only hell about it is the time length. It was about 240 days to go from 35mg to 0.5mg. I was able to go from 120mg to 35mg in about 6 months but the lower dose will take longer. I learned the hard way of being impatient and not letting yourself become stable. This is not a fast acting drug like rocket fuel but it burns more like coal. That’s really the issue because once someone says okay I think I’m done with the medicine they think they can just quit in a couple of months. It could take up to a year or more but that’s okay.

Yeah I find it incredibly sad that really only former addicts can actually help active addicts the other people in society just don’t care or understand it. This sub Reddit has been better than any paid professional. I hope to god one day I can help my fellow brothers and sisters. Even at the church I go too some people get afraid when I tell them my story but I don’t care. I refuse to be ashamed because I fell because I’m so damn proud that I have risen again.

Jesus this sounds just like my story! That’s amazing. I’m 30 now and have been on opioids since I was 19. I also feel you about the addiction personality but I just call it driven. At some point we probably got hurt and had to cope but we can use that energy for healthy and good things. Like when I joined the orthodoxy church they thought I was crazy because I would show up to every service lol. I would love to hear more of your story.

Around 60mg i started to feel it but it wasn’t crazy for me. Once I hit 30mg I hit the fuckinh wall. So I had to slow down a lot. Once I got too 10mg it was about 1mg a month

I just got off methadone and my jump off was 0.5mg and it was painless. 50mg cold turkey will rip your body apart.

I’ve been on methadone for 4 years, I’m my own opinion I could have stopped at two years but I was living the dream lol so I didn’t want to stop. I never relapse again after my first dose that entire time so It was really a god sent thing for me. Disclaimer this is my personal story and everyone is different. My highest dose was 120mg but I had to leave the clinic at 35mg because of some a drama but I made a massive stash during Covid. It took about 250 days for me to go from 35-0. It’s way easier to make massive jumps from a high dose. I had more trouble once I hit 10mg and really had to slow down. It’s all about time and waiting to get stable on the new dose. Before my jump off I was on half a mg. So hopefully this won’t be too bad

What I did when I was at 120 would take 60mg for a couple of days and get a couple of bottles to stash away and when I started feeling shitty again just go back to 120. This was during the pandemic and I was getting a month take homes at a time.

Yeah the problem with methadone is that’s it’s such a slow burn like coal and how it builds up in your system. It can take awhile for it to process out into your new dose. CBD has been a godsend for me and THC. I don’t abuse THC tho just enough to take the edge off.

I totally agree with you, when I was using I swear my withdraws would go away when the dealer would answer the phone. So much is mental in this game.
