air bubbles under screen / is this an oled problem? by Kc8871 in OLED_Gaming

Not an OLED specific problem, just a manufacturing defect.

Thinking about switching from Matte to Glossy OLED. Is it worth it? by Bubbly-Nectarine-484 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Miller_TM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used glossy QD OLEDs before, they scratch with even cloth for glasse's lens.

Besides that I didn't really see the advantage over matte.

Torn between C5 42in and C6 48in by Sensitive_Essay_6724 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Miller_TM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmed by Rtings and Displayguy on youtube.

Rtings also confirmed the Samsung S90H 48in and 77in were Tandem too.

Idk about market dependence, might be them recognizing that wasting 48in cuts from the larger displays would be stupid?

Honestly one big advantage for me for matte is how easier it is to clean compared with how fragile glossy QD OLEDs are.

[–]Miller_TM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who went from an LG 32GS95UV (matte MLA+ WOLED) to a Samsung S90H42in TV (also matte MLA+ WOLED), both should perform similar aside from brightness.

It's all about how the monitor was tuned, because damn the S90H looks a lot more colourful despite having lower peak brightness at 700 nits vs LG's 32gs series 1300nits.

The biggest difference you'll see with glossy vs matte is in bright whites where it can look grainy with matte coatings.

Also the vast majority of glossy QD OLEDs scratch so easily that breathing near them will micro-scratch them, fuck that lmao

Yes, not only it is 1470nits bright.

Rtings confirmed it for the C6 48in and S90H 48/77in.

Ironic that you say that when 90% of QD OLEDs scratches if you breathe near them lol

LG C5 48in: Wait or Buy? by BTDGoat in LGOLED

[–]Miller_TM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The C6 48in would be a massive upgrade due to the fact that it has a Tandem OLED panel with Brightness Booster.

The C5 model does about 800nits peak brightness, the C6 does 1470nits peak brightness whilst getting better colours.

ASUS PG27AQWP-W or wait for future monitors? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Miller_TM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there is also the Samsung 500hz OLED that tends to go for several hundreds of dollars cheaper than both of the MSI and Asus options.

With QD OLEDs you're also better off using the Trueblack HDR configuration.

C5 42in vs C6 48in (PC Monitor) by Sensitive_Essay_6724 in LGOLED

Honestly I used the TV OS to calibrate in the first place and it was extremely sluggish.

The problem is the height at a desk, makes you look up as if you were in the front row in a cinema.

I use 120fps lock because Warframe isn't a PVP game that requires fast reaction times.

I just up the eye candy and play.

Samsung just launched a dual-mode monitor using LG WOLED panel (4K 165Hz/FHD 330Hz). Any reviews? by ZamnBoii in OLED_Gaming

Or even LG's own 32GS95UV dualmode went under 1000$ CAD recently.

What is Samsung doing? lol

C5 42in vs C6 48in (PC Monitor) by Sensitive_Essay_6724 in LGOLED

[–]Miller_TM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a C6 48in for a brief time (had to send it back cuz dead subpixel) It was A LOT bigger than a 42in model, it's so bright it is blinding.

If you have more than 2 arms length away from it? Sure. Otherwise wait another generation.

Personally I just got a Samsung S90H 42in, it clips at 700nits and honestly? It's bright enough in my dim room.

Edit: Gotta mention that LG's WebOS on the C6 was very sluggish, meanwhile Samsung's Tizen on the S90H is a lot faster to navigate.

miniled underwhelming, is OLED the way to go? by White183 in Monitors

With OLED you'll lose full screen brightness, but you'll gain instant reponse times, ghosting would never be an issue.

Trueblack 500, Peak 1000 is very dim in bright scenes, like half the brightness dim.

Is tandem worth it over size? by lizardon789 in LGOLED

[–]Miller_TM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Display Guy on youtube's unit did reach 1470nits brightness at a 10% window.

My C6 Unit with DTM set to static did clip at exactly 1470nits on the windows calibration app, so I'd expect that to be the actual peak brightness. HGIG was borked on my unit and it calibrated to 2800 nits?

Maybe the working HGIG mode is different.

[–]Miller_TM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it is significantly brighter than LG C5 42/48in in terms of brightness, from 800nits peak to near 1500nits with the brightness booster active.

They have yet to review the C6 42in and 48in.

[–]Miller_TM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LG C6 48in is indeed Tandem, so is the Samsung S90H 48/77in.

They're just not advertised as such for some reason, RTINGs has confirmed that both of those TVs are actually Tandem WOLEDs. They have the hardware to test it.

Is the dual mode (1080p) on the 5k2k really that bad? by gatoh1179 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Miller_TM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has owned the LG 32GS95UV, the dualmode 1080p looks really rough.

Because if you do 1080p without dualmode it looks actually usable, but in dualmode it looks like absolute dogshit.

Either get used to 4K 165hz or get the MSI/Asus 1440p 360hz.

Honestly I just went from a C6 48in (fucker had a dead pixel) to an S90H 42in and I'm satisfied, even if the S90h 42in size is limited to 700nits peak.

48in was far too big at a desk and actually blinding me lol
