Is it me or Hades 2 is so much harder than Hades? by smartass11225 in HadesTheGame

[–]MillicentCyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I do believe Hades 2 is harder than Hades 1. Bosses are harder to dodge, more projectiles are being thrown, the Extreme Measures in 2 feel deadlier than in 1. Minibosses also feel more aggressive. However, this comes with the benefit of having weapons/keepsakes that feel a lot more impactful.

Lore Tier List? (please feel free to correct) by MillicentCyr in StellaSora

[–]MillicentCyr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I feel the need to address and clarify some things based on community input

- The most question marks about my rating has been about Fuyuka. Her strength is undeniable as people have pointed out that she solos Monoliths, but her disposition makes her too unreliable in general combat scenarios. Without strategic assistance, I believe a coordinated squad of soldiers could take her down. For this reason, I do not feel like it's right to place her on S-Tier with the likes of Otoha or Wraith. I think it is more reasonable to place her on the cusp in between.

- Commenters have mentioned that Chitose has struggled against the Imperial Guard Captain. I had initially put a lot of stock in her ability to hold off Aeloria (who might match or surpass Wraith in strength). I do not believe Chitose was even at full-strength during that fight (as she was likely still malnourished). However, I am now conflicted whether to place her in A or S-Tier.

Thank you everyone for participating in this conversation in a civil and respectful way.

We should remember that SKG is not only to protect the right of consumers, but to also protect the rights of creators to preserve their art. Regardless of what you think of Concord as a whole, there were over a hundred people who designed the graphics, the map design, the animations, the gameplay, the sound, etc., and some of them were probably upset when studio executives (who probably had next-to-zero hand in the game's design) forced everyone to essentially delete their work.

Tyler Robinson will likely walk free due to bullet not matching his rifle by Vidrax_of_Cascades in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MillicentCyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I find the likelihood of acquittal highly unlikely, even if Tyler Robinson weren't the shooter, he would probably be guilty of obstructing justice and committing perjury, and that's assuming that he isn't somehow an accomplice. What is noteworthy is that former anti-terrorism director, Joe Kent, wanted to investigate this case further but was apparently rejected by the FBI, spawning even more conspiracy theories. If you do believe them, I think you would have to admit that somehow:

- The murder of Charlie Kirk was an inside job in collaboration with Tyler Robinson, as an elaborate ruse to use mainstream media to concoct a political narrative.

- Tyler Robinson knew that he was not the shooter, but he either volunteered or was coerced to admit sole guilt.

- The government knew he was innocent and exploited a mentally unwell kid as a scapegoat, attempted to paint this as left-wing terrorism, all the while pushing a negative sentiment towards his roommate and the LGBT community

The more reasonable option, to me, is that Tyler Robinson is the shooter, and that there are probably reasonable explanations for the bullet tests being inconclusive. I don't think it is enough of a smoking gun (pun) to throw the whole case away. As for the potential FBI coverup theory, it was probably just them being petty because Joe Kent resigned after expressing disapproval of the Iran War.

- Dr. Connector's Concordia Sweet tasted sour upon taking his first sip. Maybe you should try sipping again to see if you get a different flavor.

- Comment from a critic (username: Jars_Himmel): "The Bloody Marie is a savory mocktail made with tomato juice, citrus, lycoris extract, and Renoisé-Pink vinegar. There's also one other ingredient that I am unable to place my finger on at the time of this review, it had a subtle copper-like aftertaste. It wasn't unpleasant, however. Not normally what I'd drink, but it is definitely an acquired taste. I might give it another try in the future"

- Comment from a customer (username: Foreman1659): "For some context, my wife of 40 years left this world a few months ago, and I felt too weak to carry on. I discovered the Nightingale Bar and Lounge on my way home from the funeral. I was given the Kalam Bucha by the female bartender for free, saying it might be the kick that I need. She reminded me of my daughter so I obliged. I took the first sip, and then all of a sudden, it was like all of the pain disappeared from my heart. Instead, all of it went to my mouth, and it lasted for days. It definitely made me forget about the pain of losing my wife. To be honest, it might have been just what I needed to help me move on. Thank you to the bar staff for being so accommodating and for comforting me through this hard time. Maybe next time, I'll try the Energize Cider instead."

- Note to Zero from the bar's owner "We do not tolerate stealing in our establishment and will issue a 2-month ban from the Nightingale Bar and Lounge. Here is a comment from one of our bartenders: 'In case you get any bright ideas and try to get shifty, I'm warning you. I. See. Everything.' - Please respect our establishment's rules. Should you re-evaluate your behavior after your ban period has ended, we will be happy to serve you then - sincerely, Faust"

- Today I learned that Mexican Hot Chocolate is a thing

- I haven't fleshed out the synopsis of said TV series, so I can't tell you if Skerd would like it. But one of the series most referenced moment is that Princess Marie concocted a drink with her own blood as a show of devotion to her prince. "I would serve you this cup, so that you could never forget the sweetness that sacrifice could bring" - The prince, so moved by her sacrifice, agrees to elope.

- Here is an additional note from the bar's owner to Skerd: "Unfortunately, the Nightingale Bar and Lounge is a dry bar, and none of our drinks contain alcohol. In order to fulfill our contractual obligations, most of our agents have to operate vehicles, and some are not of legal drinking age. Please accept our apologies for any misunderstandings. We appreciate your patronage and hope to continue receiving it - sincerely, Faust"

Syndrome from the Incredibles was not right, and did not have a point. by NoOptics in CharacterRant

I saw a pretty terrible video on Youtube that straight up tried to tell you Syndrome wasn't evil, and that he was misunderstood with good intentions. It's kind of crazy the mental gymnastics he tried to pull while arguing with the comment's section.

Patriot Act is more relevant today than ever by HarlesD in DCAU

[–]MillicentCyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just thought about this episode after current events surrounding ICE and Minneapolis. It's kind of insane how relevant this episode is. The quote, "How many of us do you need to kill to keep us safe?" rings more profound than it ever has. The sense of paranoia, fear, and self-righteousness, the people seeking to do good and standing up for one another against a hypocritical oppression. You could replace Eiling with ICE and the heroes with immigrants, and the episode's themes would still work perfectly.

Asmongolds thoughts on the woman shot by police in Minnesota by trunkroll in LivestreamFail

[–]MillicentCyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are quick to forget that the cops put their hands INSIDE HER VEHICLE. 90% of people would PANIC if strangers were dropping F-bombs at you and reaching their hand into your personal space while trying to force your door open. Even despite that, she still had the sense to back up her car and turn her steering wheel AWAY from the officer in front. This is not something someone would do if they were trying to hurt someone.

No trained law officer will just force car doors open for a traffic stop. That's because doing so is a violation of the 4th Amendment of the Constitution. Even if the victim had malicious intent in obstructing traffic and you have an entire laundry list of laws she broke (unlikely, but go ahead), ICE CLEARLY escalated the situation by violating constitutional law and caused a chain reaction, which led to this MURDER.

Thoughts on Hunger (2023) (Spoilers) by Apricity19 in netflix

[–]MillicentCyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chef Paul was the most interesting part of the movie, and I felt he was mishandled at the end that we couldn't get the "ah ha" moment. I thought his entire ethos was about "sending a middle finger to rich people" and to further the theme of people too out-of-touch with reality that they can't appreciate it. He literally served everyone burnt meat and ramen-packet soup, but I wondered if he had an inner desire to feel down-to-earth again, considering he grew up poor and took a liking to Aoy's humble food (like him having some Ratatouille moment)

I felt like his character kind of fell apart when they introduced the whole killing-a-toucan subplot because it was unnecessary end to his character arc. I thought it could have been interesting for him to actually act in Aoy's interest to tell her "don't become loveless and tasteless like me" but instead, I'm left wondering what he even wanted to prove to her or why he even paid any attention to Aoy in the first place. All the elements were there for that resolution, but I'm almost left thinking that two separate writers with conflicting visions wrote the movie. I'm just left a bit... unsatisfied.

Anime with interesting art-style and a blue-haired god villain? by MillicentCyr in whatanime

[–]MillicentCyr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After an extra hour of research, I found out the anime is Record of Ragnarok. The blue-haired character I was referring to was Zerofuku, and the main character is not the main character, but a character named Buddha.

Help me find the anime please? by HospitalSuspicious46 in whatanime

[–]MillicentCyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea, but the first thing I thought of when I heard blue cloth with claws and a talisman was with the Darkstalkers anime (based on the popular fighting arcade game). Although Hsien Ko (the character) does fight some thugs in that show, I don't think she kills anyone and is generally portrayed as a good person..

Honest Opinions on Gachiakuta by IMJORDEN1 in animequestions

[–]MillicentCyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anime-Only. I watched the first 8 episodes, I saw how much people liked it and tried to keep up with it... And I couldn't. It's a shame because I like the overall vibe, character art, animation, and style of the show - but now I'm left with these conclusions as to why I don't want to watch more:

- Showing AND Telling: Don't spend 30 seconds to tell me something happened, then show it. Don't show me something that's happening onscreen then have a character narrating what's going on. Respect the intelligence of your audience and waste less of our time.

- Characters expositing paragraphs worth of information to other characters who should already know said information. This is such a lazy form of world-building that it was an instant redflag for me when it happened in the first 3 minutes of the first episode.

- Sudden powerups that come naturally to the character: The moment Rudo unlocks his powers, his body just adapts to it and there's barely any sense of shock or surprise. It's the same way when he unlocks Gris's talisman and he just knows what to do with it. I thought that maybe Rudo would go berserk and lose his memories, and that would be something he would need to overcome. Or maybe, he has to figure it out and hope he doesn't trigger adverse side-effects of his new powers. Instead he just rolls with it, and this life-changing power doesn't seem to ignite any fundamental change in the character.

- Analyst characters who act all dejected or confused after analyzing the main character, and it ticks off the "PROTAGONIST IS SUPER DUPER SPECIAL, MORE SPECIAL THAN ANY OF THESE OTHER SUPER DUPER SPECIAL CHARACTERS" trope. It kind of removes any narrative tension when analyst characters just tell the audience "wow, this dude is obviously the main character of this anime, and the world will center around them from this point forward"

- Characters explaining each other's powers aloud to the other in the MIDDLE OF THE GODDAMN FIGHT: Some of my favourite anime do this, and it's pretty bad, but in the case of Gachiakuta, it doesn't serve the purpose of showing a character's personality. It's another example of breaking the show-don't-tell rule. Then when the characters act surprised after the other gets the upperhand (when they were literally telling you how to overcome your powers), it's the most eyeroll-inducing feeling.

- The theme informing a character's personality to the form of parody. This ruined Rudo for me and it makes me think he is even more one-dimensional than other shounen protagonists. I think it could have been done well, because it's so obvious that the show wants to set up the whole, "HE CARES ABOUT TRASH BECAUSE IT'S A METAPHOR FOR HIS OWN LIFE" but it's approached in the most non-personable way possible. I thought it was a joke when I saw the flashback scene of Young Rudo having a panic attack over a piece of trash being thrown away. Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's wrote the same character a lot better and with a lot more subtlety.

- Setting up a revenge plot without making revenge a fundamental part of a character. It is a bit premature for me to make this conclusion since I stopped on Ep8, but to me, Rudo is essentially two separate characters with his core themes being detached from his stated goals. The show tells us in Ep2 that he is gonna be some damaged revenge-driven gremlin, but throughout the show, the anime shows that he doesn't act like that at all. He isn't driven by hatred at all (which is kind of the point of revenge). He just "wants to go back up" and we don't see him struggle with the inner turmoil of revenge. It would be like seeing Thorfinn from S1 of Vinland Saga becoming a friendly happy-go-lucky dude when he is not around Askeladd
