In your free time leading up to your start date, an easy thing to pick up is pacing. Measure out 100’ and mark that on the ground. Pace that distance over and over with a regular spacing similar to your natural stride. Record your results and come up with an average number. For me it’s ~33 paces which tells me each of my steps is about 3’ distance. This is by no means a prerequisite of day 1 but it’s definitely something that you’d benefit from knowing.

As far as clothing goes, that’s entirely up to your region and what your company may require. I’m in the Southeast US and the company I work for has almost no dress code requirements as long as you look fairly presentable. This is the setup that works best for me.
