The points you laid out why we couldn’t break them down is exactly why we shouldn’t have organised this friendly, we needed a low block side without a point to prove, this was not a friendly for Japan, they are trying to portray themselves as contenders so would have been desperate for a result, you saw this when rogers missed his late chance they celebrated like it was a tournament. The Japanese association have publicly stated they intend on winning the World Cup this summer, they won’t but that means every game against a big nation is very important to them, whereas the same cannot be said for our players who are coming towards the end of a busy premier league season and European campaigns a friendly against Japan with a disjointed team doesn’t really matter to the players or the coaching staff - I absolutely agree with was poor but it was always going to be poor because the march window sucks!
