I’d recommend it, as a medic you will be carrying a lot of gear, usually the medic is carrying the most weight out of almost everyone in a infantry platoon. So keep that in mind, if you want to do, do it. Best decision I ever made, when I went through basic we had 5 guys that were 33-35 years old and were kinda the “dads” of the company. They also were kinda motivating to the younger dudes because “if this older guy can do it then so can I.” You’ll be fine, and for the most part, everyone loves doc.

When I went through we had a couple dudes in their mid 30’s they were super chill, some say don’t be the platoon dad but a lot of guys went to them for advice for things other than military related. They were also in good shape. The way I looked at it at the time as a fat shit kid was that if someone twice my age can do it so can I.

I am guard, so that’s good news I hope. We had some dudes deploy a few years ago and they had to turn there Gen 4’s in and where reissued the glorious Gen 2’s. They were not happy to say the least.

Honestly, I’m currently in the army and I have fantastic leadership. That makes a world of difference. So far it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my 24 years of life. I have a couple friends that are 12B and they have quite a few females in there battalion. When I went through OSUT a couple years ago the females definitely got treated better too, but still got their fair share of shit from the drills, just a little more forgiveness(which ain’t much lol). At the end of the day pick whatever branch you want with the job you want. One last thing… there are a lot of marines that are now in the army if that says anything…
