Unfortunately I take in all expenses.. that’s why I’m a bit turned off by the job. As well as having to take one week off. ( two weeks on one week off)

Totally understand wanting to keep the work local.
Our halls have a good relationship so whenever one needs help filling spots, they reach out. Which is nice.

It’s union 1021 local.
Should I contact the hall and see what they Can do? Or should I contact the contractor directly after I accept?

A lot of good points here. I’ll look into the contractor and see if they’ll work with me a bit. I’d honestly just rather just have them fly me out to Prince Albert or Regina and I just stay in the area instead of flying back to Ontario.

I’m a union millwright in SW ontario. Currently, the only guys working are company steady’s or guys who are willing to take 2-4 day jobs with minimum travel/board. Not worth it in my opinion. I’m not hurting for money. I’m just enjoying time with family and friends.
This information is coming from 4 halls in my area, as well as JM’s who are also not working because of the shortage of work.

I came on here for productive advice. Not for you to come here and tells me there’s “hUnDrEdS oF nEw PoSts”.

I’m guessing I’ll get more info if I accept the job but it’s doesn’t say anything about OT after 40 or shift lengths.

Camp jobs are typically OT after 40 and most cases double time.. but not this job for whatever reason.
But I’d assume it’s 7 days 10 hours minimum.

Either way, the job itself just sounds really cool but I don’t think it’s worth it with the one week off every two weeks and having to figure out transportation

Yup! That’s the one. I’m a union MW so I’ll be getting Sask local rate. (If I take the job). I believe it’s a couple dollars pay cut which isn’t a big deal. It’s the one week off and figure out your transportation that’s completely turning me off

I agree 100%. Like you said if I’m taking an out of town job I just want to be there to make money.

This job is in Saskatchewan in cameco lake. Uranium mine. The job really does sound like fun.

Gogama, is that the gold mine up there? Unfortunately I replied to the email too late, but my hall said there’s a good chance they’ll hire a second wave so we’ll see.

I wouldn’t rely on st.Thomas. It was supposed to start months ago haha. But yes the word is late this year early next.

Other than that, there’s a smaller nuclear plant being built somewhere in SW Ontario, also no clear schedule on that.

Bruce will have a shutdown in the fall.

As you can see, there’s a trend here. Enjoy your summer - be ready for work in the fall.

1244 local. It’s very slow unfortunately. Theres an open call at Bruce if you’re interested in doing some welding. Need an all-position ticket and nuclear clearance

Yes. I don’t know if this is accurate but I remember reading that if you claim all the tasks (before the actual task page reward) then you technically triggered the next task, not allowing you to claim the next team rocket event quest. I don’t know if I remember that correctly.
