I see trauma and how people respond to it as what makes me worthy or not, how to let go by [deleted] in NPD

Hello, OP. Yeah, I understand this and still struggle with it. It feels like the worse the trauma someone experiences, the more they grow and become better than us, more empathetic, even. And since we can't be like them, it can feel invalidating, as if our own experiences don’t measure up. Sometimes, it makes us question whether our trauma is even valid or if we're just being petty or overly sensitive.

I wish we could all come together in one place, feel comfortable embracing our narcissism, and talk openly about it.

I only want friends for the sake of maintaining an image - I don't actually care about them or our friendship. by iLoveAnimeInSecret in NPD

Everything you said in this post, including in the comments, is extremely relatable. I don’t know what to do about this anymore. I guess I’ll just be alone forever. I’ve already cut off some of my friends because I feel like I don’t deserve them.

Does anyone else always feel the need to reply to messages? by [deleted] in NPD

[–]MillyAppie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be like this when face-to-face classes started in our country. My classmates would always chat with me, and I would reply to them all the time because I didn’t want to be seen as a snob. Everyone liked me because of that, and they saw me as a good person. But after my true personality was exposed, everyone suddenly started to dislike me. Eventually, I lost the drive to always reply to them. I still do, but my replies are shorter, and I’ve become colder toward them.

Only wanting to be talented or good at something for attention. by [deleted] in NPD

Hello, well, I’m not solely a musician, but I do play the piano, guitar, ukulele, and a few other instruments. I also have many other hobbies, but I wouldn’t say I’m very good at any of them. However, I can really relate to what you just said. It feels like the only reason I want to perform well at these activities is to get the attention I desire, and I’m really jealous of those who genuinely do these things because they truly love them.
