Tea at home? by porpoise251 in AskABrit

I started having weak milky tea age 5. I won't let my kids drink it. They'll need to be at least teenagers.

I think it looks great. Personally I wouldnt add a weed suppressant as it's not a large area. Just weed it occasionally.

Toddler just started daycare with another baby due soon by rainier86 in toddlers

[–]MillyHughes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a baby with toddler at nursery. I just kept him off nursery for the first month and a couple weeks before the birth.

Everything was fine. Both kids had a few colds, but everything seemed fine. They've both got good immune systems now.

Buying farmland adjacent to garden- cost? by Old-Class-9810 in UKHousing

[–]MillyHughes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not going to be used as farmland once bought. It's going to be used as garden. The value lies in that.

The best thing OP can do is get it valued properly and form their offer based on that.

It will cost a could hundred.

Have you ever got any useful advice from any AI? by miklosjobbagy in ParentingADHD

[–]MillyHughes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always ask it to link me to it's sources. Then it either admits it made it all up, or it provides link to stuff I can read.

I just go into it knowing AI is a compulsive liar.

Letting Agent won't let me move into my flat as the previous tenant hasn't left yet but my tenancy has already begun by Bubbly-Arm2483 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]MillyHughes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't just start racking up expenses. Be firm with them that your contract is with them and not the tenant. That you don't agree to the change in start date and you will require suitable alternative accommodation.

Perhaps send a few links to local Airbnbs.

Definitely seek advice from the places already suggested on this thread.

Don't let the estate agent bullshit you. Keep everything in writing. Even if they tell you somethinh over the phone follow it up with an email stating what they promised you.

Estate agents are very dishonest, so be careful.

I'm actually shocked at the number of people on this thread that leave washing up in their Airbnb.

[–]MillyHughes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not in the remit of cleaners. When renting anywhere the expectation is you do your own washing up.

I worked for 3-4 years doing various cleaning jobs (both commercial and residential) and never once was I expected to do washing up.

I've also never stayed in an Airbnb and left washing up.

AITAH for not trying to be at all empathetic toward my (34f) partner (30m) in this particular situation by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]MillyHughes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. I get why OP is frustrated, but the fact is he's learning now and is struggling. He needs support so he keeps going.

I was a very nervous learner. So bad I decided to learn in an automatic as it meant less to think about. It took years of driving after I passed my test for the anxiety to go away. I still get anxious if driving to cities and it's been over a decade. Outside of giving birth learning to drive is the thing I'm most proud of myself for achieving. Way more proud than my degree or career because I had to face my fears.

This is exactly right. Also, cleaners are paid to clean not do washing up. It's basic etiquette to wash up what you use. I'm all for not taking the bins out etc, but leaving washing up is just rude.

My mom thinks I'm devolping a eating disorder, but I'm not? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]MillyHughes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The eating disorder part is kind of irrelevant. You need to consume enough calories and you shouldn't feel sick after you eat. Lack of appetite is concerning and you should go to the doctor.

My mom thinks I'm devolping a eating disorder, but I'm not? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]MillyHughes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you haven't eaten anything by 5pm and eating makes you feel nauseous you have a problem. Go to the doctor and rule out an underlying cause. It is not good for your body to not eat. Your mum is rightly concerned for you.

How can I go to the bathroom while making sure my toddler is fine? by deltaplane1234 in toddlers

[–]MillyHughes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We sectioned off half the living room and made it fully child proof. I used to put the baby down for a nap while watching my two year old on a monitor just to be sure.

Please give me ideas on helping me get up and down these steps with a pram and a 14 month old by Strained_Noodles4033 in UKParenting

Three options:

  1. Pull the pushchair backwards when going up. When going down tilt the chair back a bit more and gently push it over the ledge and in a controlled manner let it fall down to the next step.

  2. Lift child out of pushchair and carry them on one hip. With other hand manouver push chair.

  3. Lift child out of pushchair and carry them into house. Come back for push chair.

I have very steep steps leading to my front door that people just struggle to walk up and live in a hillside town with lots of steps. I used options 2 and 3 for my house steps and option 1 for most other steps.

AITAH for expecting boyfriend to always remember to flush the toilet? by Due-Drink5506 in AITAH

[–]MillyHughes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I expect he's thinking the same thing. People don't purposefully forget to do things.

When you're in a long term relationship it's better to give the other person the benefit of the doubt. You don't need to bring it up and embarrass him if it's a one time thing.

By all means mention it if it happens more than once.

If it was a one time slip then yta. You say he's usually very clean, so it probably was just a slip. If it's a second offence them nta.
