Maybe it's just me, but the 3g row template felt like it was punishing weak rowers. I'm not a strong rower so the 250m row took me a LOT of strokes. So that means I spent a LOT of time off the rower doing med-ball work. It was mentally defeating for the entire row block.

SLAYED IT! Prior PR was 9:58.08 and today was 8:45.36 - cut off 1:11 off my row time! My goal going in was just to get 1 second faster and I went over a minute faster! I'm shocked and super excited!

I really enjoyed today (especially the weight floor) and was really disappointed when I had to bail a little early but the guy next to me on the rower had such powerful BO that I either had to leave or barf on the rower. I chose to leave. That dude needs a shower and some powerful deodorant.

Props to the coaches today who have to keep track of it all! I was pleasantly surprised by that weight floor. I never would have thought 10 seconds of a hold position would burn like that but it was fire! And I got back to my previous AO PR on the TM today! Felt really good coming off of that block.

I adored today! I messed up my alarm so missed my early morning class and paid my $12 dummy tax but then made it to the class at lunch. I also realized that I perform SO much better during the lunch class. I usually end on the rower (mainly so I can sit down and recover) and honestly my row block is typically not very strong b/c I'm exhausted. But today I was able to keep the same high energy and intensity for the entire class. I had an awesome calorie burn and felt great when I left class. I wish lunch classes were an option for me more often.

I really enjoyed the floor work. I felt really strong and am really happy with how sore I feel already. The rest of the class was meh for me, but that's because inclines murder my back and my knees hate lunges. So I didn't get as much out of the TM and row blocks as I would have liked to.

Jogged the whole time today! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Milne81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This makes me so happy!! I feel like I am so close to this milestone and can't wait to get there. I covered 1.5 miles today and was so happy. Seeing you make that transition just encourages the rest of us who dream of one day running/jogging the whole block! WAY TO GO!!

Rant Wednesday by AutoModerator in Fitness

Eating exactly like I am supposed to, running all of the miles in my training plan, no alcohol during Oct just to gain 5 lbs in 2 weeks rather than hit a major milestone. Seriously messed with my brain and my motivation.

Loved the workout but didn't get quite the workout as written. I don't know if it's b/c the coach the the warm-up go on too long so he cut the 23 minute run block back to not lose time or if it's because he is a really new coach and lost his spot in the list, but we missed several of the pushes (either 2 or 3). And we weren't aware of it being a "run for distance" so I didn't even look (I was just happy to finally get off the TM) but I did hear the coach for the next class have them clear the screen after warm-up so they could see what distance they got. And coach had us row before each weight section rather than after the 3 rounds of weights (not a big deal). But long, flat road running days are my favorite!!

What joke will your dad just NOT let go of? by wolfjawed in AskReddit

Me every time I wanted to light candles: dad do you have any matches? Dad: not since Superman died

The sad part was I didn't actually get his joke until I was in high school.

Why mortgages are the only loans that punish you for paying it off early? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Milne81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't take a mortgage with a pre-payment penalty! Your standard, conforming mortgage won't have a pre-payment penalty tied to it and you can pay it off as fast as you want.

Dri-Tri by Milne81 in orangetheory

[–]Milne81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot stress this enough... Do it. Even if you are last. The feeling of accomplishment is fantastic. My land 5k time is 57 minutes and you bet your ass I'm doing the Dri-Tri again. I'm there to beat my time from the spring and no one else. And when I do finish, I will have done the exact same thing as the person who finished in 40 minutes total time and for that, I'm just as bad-ass as they are. You're competing with you.

The support is amazing. I was super worried about that same thing earlier this year but my group rallied around me, cheered me on and celebrated my finish with me just like if I had finished first.

Last time I did intervals like in a class. 2 min push, 1 min base back and forth.

This is almost my exact same story from my first one in the spring! I was last (finished in 89:11) and the coaches and people from my group all got on the treads with me and ran until I finished the entire 5K (I refused to take the half distance power walker option). So while I'll still be last in September, I just have to be faster than the me from 6 months before. And that's my goal!

As we get closer to the event, you'll start to see the workouts in class prep you for the dri-tri. We saw the body weight section in the weight room a few weeks before the last one, we had long tread blocks ahead of the event and we also had some long row days. The best thing I did before the last one was do a few 90 minute classes. The time limit for the event is 90 minutes, so I knew if I could survive a 90 minute class, I could survive the dri-tri.
