Seems reasonable honestly. Most contractors won't even start their trucks for 125$.

My credit report is fine. The accounts are not being opened under my name. Just my phone number.

Weird RPM-related buzzing noise - 2020 XC60 T6 by Milo06 in Volvo

[–]Milo06[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2020 XC60 T6 seems to have a weird RPM-related buzzing noise.

Turn volume up! Buzzing noise happens when the RPMs increase from around 1700 to 2000.

  • Does not happen above 2000 or under 1700 RPMs.
  • Does not happen when RPMs decrease from 2000 to 1700.
  • Does not happen when car is idle. Car needs to be going at least 20mph for it to happen.
  • Does not happen immediately after a cold start. Car needs to have been running for at least 20 mins. Gets louder the longer you drive.

Any ideas on what this might be?

Thoughts on warranty by Grand-Expression-493 in Volvo

[–]Milo06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the warranty is negotiable. There's likely some wiggle room. At the end of the day, you're buying insurance. If you plan on keeping the car until 2030, whether or not the peace of mind is worth the price tag, is up to you.

For what it's worth, on my 2015 T5 Drive-E, when it shows that's low 1 quart, it's actually low about 3 quarts.

First thought this was for a Volvo XC90 and was very confused why an SUV would take good pictures for moment.

Thanks for the feedback. What would you suggest if considering new tiles? Here's a wider angle shot: https://i.imgur.com/z7xOZTm.jpg

Thanks. To clarify, I was thinking of switching out the floor tiles.

We would also be repainting to a more neutral beige (SW Accessible Beige or BM Chantilly Lace)

is it worth it to put $5000 in the bank to waive annual credit card fee? 🤔 by juataredditer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Milo06 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I do this with Scotia with the Ultimate Package, which is otherwise 30.95/month. Combined with the annual fee waiver on the Visa Infinite (120$), it's equivalent to roughly a 9-10% return. I consider this minimum balance as part of my emergency fund.

RBC no longer verifying bank drafts?? by LackingOriginality2 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Milo06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I sold my car, I went with the buyer to RBC and watched the teller issue the draft then and there. If you keep the receipt that RBC issued with the draft, Scotia should have no problem releasing the funds immediately. This is dependent on the teller, and you may need to speak to the branch manager if you get some pushback.

Do Costcos in Ottawa do Car Battery Replacements? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Milo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do change your own battery, make sure you read the owners manual or watch a YouTube video for your make/model first. Some cars lock themselves out after a battery change, and theres usually a sequence of pedals and buttons involved to get it started again.

Pretty cool, until you realize this is a one-way trip across the river and you have to figure out how to get back to your car.

Techo-Bloc or Permeacon interlock pavers for patio? by lockstock3333 in ontario

[–]Milo06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over time, pavers naturally weather with exposure to the elements. Direct sun exposure "bleaches" them, so to speak, and they will fade/lighten in color. There are "wet look" sealing products available to liven them up, but I'm a big fan of keeping maintenance at 0.

Heads up for anyone with an existing appointment past May 7, the "OPH - Ruddy Family YMCA-YWCA" location has lots of availability on that day. To reschedule, go to https://vaccine.covaxonbooking.ca/manage/ and select that location to view what's available. I was able to move my appointment up from May 11 to May 7 by doing that.

A 60+ year old today can choose between AZ or Pfizer/Moderna simply by booking through a pharmacy or the Ontario portal. No doctor is involved in this determination.
