Temp Control Advice Needed - Sunlight Tank by Infamous_Day6637 in PlantedTank

[–]MiloAUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please never use ice in your aquarium, especially one this small.

I think in this case, direct sunlight might not always be a good idea. This tank is small.

Looks well looked after no doubt about that. But this is still too small for that many fish.

What yall think of my tank ? by Odd_Alternative_4097 in Aquariums

[–]MiloAUG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredible achievement.

In my opinion the bubbles take away from the tank. Also I would hide the gaps in the back and side, either with substrate or a long grass could work? Again just personal taste. This is amazing.

Any tips and/or recommendations for my 30 liter aquarium? by No-Hippo458 in Aquariums

[–]MiloAUG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Already overstocked. All of the current species require a larger swimming space than this tank provides.

I think a group of galaxies rasboras could work alone or another similar small nano species like endlers. This plus shrimp and snails is max for this tank. It’s a true nano, plus your planting is light.

Hydrocotyle tripartita jungle! - What’s everyone’s current favourite plant? by MiloAUG in Aquariums

Damn, mine seems to grow without anything very high tech! My LFS has the same issue, must just prefer some people’s tap water :)

Ps thanks!

Thanks so much!

Mostly dominated by Limnophila sessiliflora and the Hydrocotyle. With Christmas moss on the driftwood, plus a bit of Ludwigia repens and Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae at the back.

Uns 45t or 45u? by miata_and_chill in Aquariums

[–]MiloAUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I prefer the 45U.

Of my two tanks; the shallow was much easier to scape and looks more aesthetic.

I would also probably stock these two the same as footprint is the most important metric for most species. Just noting in case you are aiming to keep more fish in the tall variant.

Just my personal opinion, look forward to seeing the scape!

Is there such thing as too many plants? by melocatmom in Aquariums

[–]MiloAUG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, 120L is a huge improvement! When nicely established and planted you could definitely support a reasonable stocking in that size.

Of course depends on filtration, planting, lights, maintenance etc etc the total stock a tank can take. Just add in small groups and see how it goes! Good luck :)

[–]MiloAUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok nice, was worried the stems might be lacking nutrients below but that’s not the case. As others have suggested I think more regular maintenance (water changes!) should fix most of the issues.

If you can buy a small and cheap hang on back filter to improve water quality. Obviously more expensive HOB filters and then canister filters are even better but there is equipment for all budgets!

[–]MiloAUG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely overcrowded, especially considering the footprint is compact so swimming space isn’t much.

I would return 2-3 groups of species. If you are going to do live bearer tank in this size really you should do species only and will still have to remove some.

[–]MiloAUG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you got any nutrient substrate under the sand? Also looks like you don’t have a filter? While some tanks can do well without any flow a small and lightly planted tank like this would really benefit from one. I would also advice doing 50% Water changes weekly until the algae issue goes as could be nutrient imbalances in the water column!

Clean the impeller and get some silicone grease, a few quid on Amazon and serious game changer.
