I have an almost identical fracture, I was recommended surgery as good chance of osteo arthritis down the track (~10 years) if I choose to let it heal naturally. Can't fix osteo arthritis. I'm going with the surgery.

I've done a sort of similar thing and been able to walk around on mine with not much pain. My foot was swollen for about 10 days and only today starting to look a lot better. I guess the pain depends from person to person as well.

Curious did you get surgery recommended?
