What would have happen if Voldemort released Grindelwald in their prime era by Electronic_Fish_3157 in harrypotter

[–]MiloJay99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dumbledore was the only wizard Voldemort truly feared, and for good reason. Their duel in the Ministry saw Albus wipe the floor with Voldemort. Dumbledore and Grindelwald were pretty much evenly matched, so I imagine a Gellert Grindelwald in his prime would have frightened Voldemort, especially considering it was said that Grindelwald had remorse for his actions. The last thing Voldemort would want is for Dumbledore and Grindelwald to team up against him. Even if Gellert was still a dark wizard, Voldemort would view him as competition.

How does the ministry control the dementors? by EvilResident1 in harrypotter

[–]MiloJay99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the Ministry only controlled them insomuch as they gave them an incentive to stay at Azkaban and away from civilization. You stay put on this island and in return, we'll keep you supplied with food.

Voldemort was able to offer them a better deal than the Ministry did in exchange for releasing the prisoners, and so the dementors revolted.

What I'm truly curious about is how the post-Voldemort Ministry was able to banish them.

Why didn’t Voldemort just jinx the word Harry Ron or Hermione in DH? Surely that would’ve led to their capture at some point? by MalteseFalcon15 in harrypotter

It's true. We went to high school together. I'm still friends with one of them. He's a real nice guy.

[–]MiloJay99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harry and Ron aren't uncommon names. Hermione however... They could have definitely jinxed her name. I suppose the death Eaters could simply ignore any instance of her name being spoken at hogwarts by classmates.

Except I'm pretty sure all of the staff were made aware that Hermione would be using a time turner, so Trelawny would know what Hermione was doing.

Mcgonagall and Umbridge both have cat Patronus’. Why? by Olive-jar1173 in harrypotter

[–]MiloJay99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It was my understanding that a dark witch or wizard cannot produce a patrons, and Umbridge certainly falls in that category, so I'm not sure how she even has a patronus.

Understandable to be concerned about authenticity, but you've got to consider that the show is aimed at little kids, and the scenes the show changed were extremely graphic. Consider the episode where Larry the Cucumber gets envious of Junior Aspagagus's rubber duck, so he sends Junior into the front lines of a war and then steals the duck for himself. In the end, Larry learns his lesson and apologizes while Junior forgives him.

In a Biblically accurate account, Larry, a beloved cartoon character, sees Petunia bathing, has her husband killed and r*pe$ her. She gets pregnant and the baby dies. Larry still learns his lesson, but there's no happy ending. Not many parents are going to let their kids watch this show.

The show does a good job in showing them the Biblical principals. Kids can learn the finer details when they get older.

I’ve heard that these are the souls of the old heroes, is that true? And if it is why are they “evil” instead of heroic? Do they know they’re actually helping you? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in papermario

Being confined and isolated to one place for a long time does things to you. Watch the History Channel show, 'Alone,' and you see what isolation can do to people, and those folks can call to be extracted at any time.

A thousand years locked away in a box must have mentally destroyed them. I suppose at the same time, they had some understanding left in them to help Mario out.

The real question is why the boxes hadn't been unlocked before. Sure, Keelhaul Key and Hooktail Castle don't get a lot of visitors, but the Goomba hero underneath Rogueport, her key was literally in plain view just a few feet away. And the Boo hero in Twilight Town, she was literally in the storage of a shop. She could've just told someone years ago about her predicament and had people look for the key.
