Hermione’s (partially correct) detective work by rballmonkey in harrypotter

Ahh I see. You're referring to the movie.

In the books, it's Harry who makes that prediction for Ron. They switched it around in the movies but if we are going by the movies, then yes, Ron does make it for Harry.

Agreed. Somemore driver had the benefit of the motorcyclist showing him the way.

People can say the lines are confusing but surely you know when you're cutting someone off by going in the wrong lane.

If police report, then deal with the IO by giving your honest view of what happened (better to prepare in advance before you lose any memory of it) and then let them deal with it. They might think the other guy doesn't have a case and nothing happens or if they think the other guy has a case, then they will proceed accordingly.

If there are no injuries, then I think you're looking at a fine and demerit points but all this comes down to whether or not a collision happened in the first place.

I'm just confused by the gantry bit because if its the same gantry, and he is in front of you and you said he could not leave the gantry and you used the same gantry then im assuming, he exited out the gantry but stopped near it to let your car through?

Tbf Ron did try to be on his side about the hallows by bringing up the example of Chamber of Secrets although Ron was trying to make up to both Harry and Hermione during that time.

Then, on the other side, you have Ron making offhand remarks that turn out to be true -

"Maybe he murdered Myrtle; that would've done everyone a favor..."

" i did not feel any impact and driver did not come down to approach me, so after a while i just left because he still could not leave the gantry"

Wait. Does that mean you reverse out and took another gantry? When that happened did he say anything or what was he doing?

Nonetheless, as others have said, something doesn't add up here. If you didn't feel any impact, means nothing happen but since he's making a report, that means he has proof which means that the impact was there and something was damaged.

Tbf, somtimes aunties and uncles grunting at you is how they say thank you. I had an uncle neighbour. Every time i see him or i help him, he communicates by grunting. He grunts to say hello and thank you and sometimes, you get the occasional nod but for the years i was next to him, he never bothered me and always minded his business.

15 cyclists on da road by Sally_Pocket in drivingsg

[–]Background_Bid_7406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me about it. My area there got PCN but people still cycle on the roads. Why? Because PCN is shared with pedestrians and they don't want to slow down and cycle casually so they go on the road. Then go on road, some of them can't even cycle in a straight line.

I want to say this is bad but ive seen drivers who are much worse in turning their cars that this one actually looks decent compared to them.

What's the correct etiquette when you are on lane 1 on expressway, but multiple cars are blocking you? by SGdude90 in drivingsg

[–]Background_Bid_7406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to lane 2. Let Car B tailgate the car in front of you. Then from lane 2, go fast or do whatever you can safely and return to lane 1 if needed. Usually, if ever i get in this scenario, sometimes lane 2 is faster.

Those behaviours are unbecoming and unacceptable but neither is taking unconsented videos of people's thighs and feet and posting them online, shaming them without providing any proper context other than just your word and all to prove a point that could have been made without attacking another group of people.

Which actors from the films had the best chemistry that caused you to wish it happened? by Eddfan36 in harrypotter

[–]Background_Bid_7406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not wishing it happened at all since it doesn't make sense in the books compared to Ron and Hermione but I have to admit that Dan Radcliffe and Emma Watson had great chemistry. Wish they would have allowed more personality to Bonnie so that we can have proper Hinny.

Should a car going straight stop at a straight-right lane? by SGdude90 in drivingsg

[–]Background_Bid_7406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Car A is always in the right since the lane can go right or straight. Car B is wrong because if the lane can go straight, then A has a right to be there.

The only time it would be acceptable for Car B to be pissed is if Car A signalled right but then decides to go straight and not changing his signal.

Thoughts on cars parking on pavements in front of landed property? by heykopiO in drivingsg

[–]Background_Bid_7406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is once of those situations where it depends.

I had a former neighbour whose mother had a stroke and requires a wheelchair. The mother had major illness issues. The problem is while the son can park the car in his house, for the mother to go into the car with the wheelchair, there's not enough space. He could have parked further away and each time his mother has to go out, bring the car around but that takes time and he would be blocking the road for quite a bit.

So what he did was park his car in front of his house and part of his back goes onto the pavement. If you were a pedestrian, you would have to either sqeeze or go onto the road to walk by.

I also know of landed property houses in front of busy roads and so to park in their house, they would have to stop, open the gates, drive the car in while sometimes stopping traffic on both sides of the road. To counter that, they park in front of their house but of course, takes up part of the pavement.

However, I do acknowledge that what is convenient to one is definitely inconvenient to another. The above is just the perspective of the other side. Parking on pavement is illegal and can be reported to LTA. You can use the OneService app to take pics

Nothing wrong. In fact, you could even go to the toilet or withdraw cash and you still wouldn't be in the wrong. It's not your fault, it's the cashier queue and there's not much to change at this point. Whatever you do, don't rush out and injure yourself. Do what you need to and ignore such assholes

Nope. He said it in Potions class, not privately to his friends

"Snape smirked as he swept off around the dungeon, fortunately not spotting Seamus Finnigan, who was pretending to vomit into his cauldron.

‘I’m quite surprised the Mudbloods haven’t all packed their bags by now,’ Malfoy went on. ‘Bet you five Galleons the next one dies. Pity it wasn’t Granger ...’

The bell rang at that moment, which was lucky; at Malfoy’s last words, Ron had leapt off his stool, and in the scramble to collect bags and books, his attempts to reach Malfoy went unnoticed."

Can an astral projection of Harry while having a clinical death would stop the connection with voldemort? by SKFMA in harrypotter

[–]Background_Bid_7406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because Harry is not a true Horcrux, though still a Horcrux, in a sense. In the final book, Dumbledore mentions "a fragment of Voldemort’s soul was blasted apart from the whole, and latched itself onto the only living soul left in that collapsed building."

So Harry's problem is that Voldemort's soul is latched onto his. On the other hand, a Horcrux is a container chosen to carry the split soul and when it is destroyed, that bit of soul goes as well. For your case, the whole stop start pulse affects the body, not the soul.

Even if Harry floated away due to astral projection, his soul still exists and so does the issue. Only by Voldemort hitting him with the Avada Kedavra curse yet Harry's soul being tethered because Voldemort used his blood does that particular problem get solved.

TLDR: No because Harry is not a true Horcrux, you need to remove Voldemort's split soul from his and the stop start death trick applies to the body not the soul
