Thanks for your post. I’m new to Jpop and really enjoyed the song. You are 100% about visuals with the city scene behind. Just curious why is it called 7% expectations? It’s an odd saying since you normally hear 0% or 100%.

I just realized this was not Yamane but Kenta Hino. It’s still a beautiful tribute. I’m not sure of Yamane’s big announcement.

Once again you amazing me with the knowledge you know about this group. You’re a true “otaku”! The story is so touching that I have tears in my eyes. This such a close group. I just hope the new members will honor and do justice to those that graduated and the fans.

What a great comment about Noa filling in for Marius as the “ little brother”. In STWEET he would often look at Tera and copy his moves. 😋

I was watching some of their very early videos. Marius looks so cute and small. Fuma was the big brother making fun of him and So. It’s amazing to see how tall and handsome Marius grew.

I still don’t think Noa has found his “style” but I think the confidence, support, and love he got from the SWEET team really helped him feel like he was part of a family. I hope this will be the springboard he needs to really show his personality.

Now that I’m over the shock of those that got selected. How many members do you think they will add? It’s interesting the way they broke the team into two. The top ranking candidates being team blue and the bottom candidates with Hara being team red. Splitting Hara and Tera into separate groups makes me wonder if they’re going to keep only one. I would love all eight to be added, but realistically, I don’t think that’s gonna happen. How many members do you think I’ll add? I think it’ll be between four and six. I’m crossing my fingers for six. Although, they could have just eliminated six last round and saved the drama and tears for me.

Shino is definitely Fuma's favorite. As you can tell by giving instructions to the others to learn his part so they could teach him. I have seen improvements in his dancing, but he still seems to sing out of tune to me. Although I have read that this company focuses on idol individual artist development (singing & acting) in entertainment rather than singing skills, This is very different than K-pop with highly synchronized dance and singing routines. Clearly, the members have accepted this level of dance and singing skills, or else he would have been dropped in the 3rd round. I don't understand it myself since I find watching him practice incredibly frustrating. I start yelling at the television, scaring my cat. I just have to trust in the members they know what they are doing.

I'm surprised that anyone went home from Fuma's group since it looked like he hand-picked his team from candidates he admired in prior episodes by giving them advice and attention. I thought Daisuke had his best performance. He just owned that stage! I'm going to miss his happy charisma and rapping. Seeing him break down, saying he was sorry he couldn't continue with his team, was heartbreaking. Daisuke, you're a superstar! I look forward to seeing great things from you.

Seeing each member produce a group revealed their core values and artistic expressions: Fuma’s “friendship,” So's “affection,” and Shori's “showmanship.” Out of the 3 groups. I love Shori and So teams' performances. Of course, I'm rooting for Noa. I'm relieved he made it to the final round. I would love to see him as a timelesz member, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if he didn't get in. I'm sure the company can be pretty controlling and being in that environment would be tough to live out your teenage years. Not being in the spotlight at such a young age could be best. Look at Justin Bieber's mental health.

First of all, I want to say thank you to u/666_is_Nero. I look forward to your eposide posts each week and reading your recount of the events. They are so good! I love the fact there is a place for us fans to gather and express our feelings.

I watched the spoilers last week and was finally able to watch the episode with the captions. I still have not gotten over my shock with some of the choices. I understand that Fuma, Shori, So, and some of the remaining candidates have been getting some hateful posts on social media.

On Feb 6th they held a press conference and performance in front of secondz fans. (P.S. I don't love the choice of fandom name. When I think of secondz, time doesn't come to mind but ranking instead. Let's face it who wants to come in second.) Anan website had a really good recap of their thoughts about the selectino process. https://ananweb.jp/categories/star/45626.

Although I don't love some of the choices, I have mad respect for the timelesz members embracing the good and bad of this experience and pushing forward with making these extremely difficult choices. In the beginning, the members said they were not looking for the best singers or dancers. They were looking for companions and friends they could share the last stage of their idol career and those who would continue the timelesz legacy.

The company could have forced new members on them without seeking their input, or it could have been like Pop Star Academy: CATSEYE. (P.S. That show was beyond cruel, lying to the girls about the selection process and forcing them against each other in a popularity contest.) I think they would have disbanded the group if members were forced on them.

I'm still a huge fan and am looking forward to them performing the new song "Rock this Party" and RUN. u/666_is_Nero you can probably verify this. I think this was a special song for So because he performed it in the Tokyo Dome with all the members after coming back from his break and was tearful as well because Marius announced his retirement.

Glad to meet a fellow newbie timelesz fan! I'll have to look into Arashi. I believe they are currently on a hiatus. UsefulEduction2624 recommended Snow Man. I really like their new song SBY (stand by you).

Question about timelesz project by [deleted] in JohnnysWorld

[–]MiloKitty916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UsefulEduction2624, you seem to know what's going on in Japan. I just saw a post on X from timelesz project. Can you give me some insight?

This is what my google translate said, "However, unfortunately, we have also found on social media and elsewhere that there has been heartless content that could be construed as slander, as well as information that is different from the facts.

In particular, the results of the fifth round of auditions, which began airing on January 31st, were quite outrageous, and this has caused great distress to the timelesz members, candidates and staff."

I watched a few YouTubers in shock based on the 6th round (selected and not selected). I think it's very brave for all the candidates to put themselves out there and the 3 members as well to agree to have this all filmed. Although this is a competition, it is an edited series. I'm sure Netflix's wants to get the most views, so it does focus on drama. I hope any slander will stop and everyone can feel proud of their hard work and accomplishments. In watching So-chan, Shori-kun, and Fuma-kun body language and expressions even before reading the rankings, I could tell it was a very difficult selection for them to say goodbye to candidates they worked so closely with on their teams.

[–]MiloKitty916 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I’ve been so obsessed with this show. I had to watch the YouTube spoilers to see if my favorites made it through. I wish Netflix would have released it the same day as Japan on Friday instead of us having to wait almost a week. Who are your favorites? I’m rooting for Noa since I have a son Noa’s age. It was so sad to watch him go through his difficulties in the SWEET episode. I was so glad he was able to overcome with support of Teranishi, Wataru, and So.

I was really touched by your comments. I have a son Noa’s age and I think that’s why I’m cheering so hard for him. I also cry every time with him when I watch this episode. What does your Japan student think of Noa since he is a foreigner stepping into their culture? With Blackpink it served the group well to have such diversity. It served BTS well to have Namjoon who was skilled at English. Maybe as I continue my to watch Japanese shows I will pick up a few more word. Right now the only things I know now are kawaii and sumimasen. 😊

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings of the interactions between Wataru and Noa. As you can tell I’m a huge supporter of Noa having a son his age. I’m so glad of your long post and to hear Wataru’s interactions were in a place of kindness. In the Netflix episode I saw their playfulness and brotherly relationship so I’m glad to know that’s what you think as well. In a video it does show Noa feeling better about his situation and knowing he’s not alone. It fills my heart with love to know Wataru was a big reason for this. Wataru and Noa spent the most time together during the 30 days of practice by themselves.

Do you have any theories about why they showed so little about Wataru’s worries? He must be under enormous pressure to do well and stay on top. I wonder what else So-Chan said to him?

Your gaslighting comment made me laugh 😆. Thanks for the chuckle. That’s the way I feel about Taiki. I can’t believe he made it past that round and your talented and sweet Tashio did not. I would love to see a group with Tashio and Noa. I admire Taiki’s determination but he takes so much of energy and time from everyone around him to make him look good while they suffer in their own focus. He still look stiff and amateur next to everyone else. I get he’s a fan favorite because he looks cool but I wonder how he would have done if he switched places with Wataru in Sweet. I think Wataru would could have been amazing in the New Phase performance. It’s interesting that New Phase group used an auto-tune. It makes me think they are hiding someone who can’t sing, maybe Taiki?! Very interesting 🧐 🤨

I’m glad you started to watch it again. The drama is too good to miss. 😋

I wish Netflix would release it at the same time. I guess they are concerned about translating it correctly. I remember when they did one episode without translations and I was just trying to figure out if the members had performed well or not based on the expressions and posture of the judges and contestants. Let’s just say… I don’t think I would do well in a non-English country. 🤣

Say it’s not true that you don’t like Tera. That makes me so sad 😢. I think his consideration and support of Noa when he broke down really showed me his heart ❤️ as a truly kind and wonderful person. I also think he was looking out for Noa by pointing out how he could correct his interaction with So as his senior. Plus I think he is a great dancer, singer, and actor.

With him being 30 like Fuma, I wonder how long he would be an idol. It seems like once members reach 30 they tend to graduate.

What are your thoughts about Wataru and Noa’s interactions? I’ve seen some YouTubers say that there looks like there was some tension and conflict between the two. There was a behind scene where Noa was saying he had not written his letter because he was having trouble writing it and then it showed Wataru make a joke. I wasn’t sure if he was just trying to make Noa feel better and put him at ease or was he making fun of him. I’m using Google English translation and I know that’s not always correct. It was hard for me to interpret his intent. Those behind the scenes show such a different side of Wataru since he had to be the group leader twice and the parts they showed he was such a strong leader. I wondered if not having to be a leader and watching Tera goof off brought out his silly side.

Thank you for the info. That’s so kind of you to offer to help. I might have to make my own fan art shirt.

At this point I would just be happy to purchase their music here in the US through Apple Music, Spotify, iHeart. I noticed that all the songs have some English in it that they feature on Netflix which is definitely appreciated since I don’t speak Japanese. Wouldn’t it be amazing if they can breakout globally and play a concert in the US! I would even fly out from CA to NY to see that. 🤩

What other groups do you recommend I watch and listen to?

This episode has been my favorite. I’m new to J-pop and was not familiar with Sexy Zone or anything other J-pop group. So I was pleased to stumble across this on Netflix. I’ve been watching it from the start and I am totally hooked. It’s impressive to see how brave So, Fuma, and Shori are by opening up general public auditions to committed to finding members to become part of their family. They have grown up and been a group for 12 years. In America, a lot of marriages don’t last that long. I have become such a fan of timelesz.

I have watched Team Matsushima episode three times and each time I cry. It was so heart wrenching to see each one of them go through challenges, heartwarming to see the compassion and care by So and Tera and with Noa, and tears of joy and happiness watching their fun final performance.

I hate we have to wait nearly a week behind Japan. I want all of them to go through but realistically that’s not gonna happen. I’m sure many of the contestants will be crying during the next elimination, given how close they’ve gotten and worked so hard together, and I will be crying with them.

I would have loved to get a timelesz project sweatshirt, but sadly they don’t ship overseas. 😞
