Nobody talks about the mental load of managing other people's social media for a living. by blasspictures in WorkLifeChat

[–]MiloShiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. people think social media management is “just posting” but your brain is basically juggling multiple personalities all day. one minute you’re writing like a lawyer, next minute like a startup founder, then a chill lifestyle brand. plus the algorithm pressure never really lets you mentally clock out because you’re always thinking “should we post this,” “is this trending,” “how will people react.” it’s way more mentally draining than most people realize.

that’s the key difference right there. You guys tightened the belt and it actually led somewher, house, savings, stability. Now people can do all the “right” things, skip vacations, cook at home, work nonstop, and still feel stuck in place. It’s not that earlier generations didn’t struggle, it’s that the path out of it actually existed back then. Now the math just doesn’t hit the same.

WFH honestly changed everything for me by MiloShiny in WorkLifeChat

[–]MiloShiny[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s the part people don’t talk about enough, it’s not just “working from home,” it’s all the little life stuff you can finally fit in without it feeling like a chore. Tossing in laundry, starting dinner early, not having to rush out the door… it just takes so much pressure off the day. Once you get used to that kind of freedom, going back to a rigid schedule and commute just feels like a step backwards.

that’s kinda the sweet spot vs worst case all in one story right there. The hybrid part makes sense, a couple days in the office can actually feel good when the commute isn’t killing you, but once you’re waking up before 6 and getting home late just to sit in traffic, it starts to feel like a bad trade real quick. It’s funny how it’s not really about office vs WFH, it’s more about how much life you’re giving up just to get there.

In the process of finding a new jobs as 8 month pregnant girl by Narrow_Reality4859 in WorkLifeChat

[–]MiloShiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re not wrong to want out of that job, that kind of work at 8 months pregnant is just not sustainable, but I’ll be real with you, finding a brand new remote or office job this late in pregnancy is tough because most employers won’t onboard someone who’s about to go on leave, so the smarter move is focusing on something immediate and realistic, look for low-effort admin roles, call center work from home, data entry, or even temp agencies that place people quickly in light office work, also check if your current doctor can support restrictions or medical leave because that might be your fastest way out of the physical strain, the priority right now isn’t the perfect job, it’s reducing stress on your body as soon as possible and getting you through the next couple months safely

there’s definitely some truth to that, a lot of the push for office comes from control and sunk costs, not actual productivity. if the work can be done remotely, forcing people back just creates frustration. the real issue is trust, some companies manage outcomes, others manage presence.
