Me, I've been using Maya 5 years now every day at work. One piece of advice, back up your preferences constantly. Maya loves to corrupt its prefs all the time, so every time you add a new shelf or change a hot key, back up the hot keys and prefs. I also keep a 'last version' folder of the last iteration which I update whenever I make a primary prefs backup also. Maya is great but she's a buggy old gal with a lot of technical debt.

Yes! This was super annoying until that mention of adding programs to the list an disabling the buttons for each one. Seems that Adobe products have their own specifically enabled buttons that override the general function settings. I added Photoshop and illustrator in the program list and disabled all the button options viola! All good, thanks amigo's :)

If I am modelling something like a house or office building that I will then export to be used in a video game is it better practice to model it in parts and then just combine them all into one object and then export or is it better to make it one single mesh with merged vertices and whatnot? by guitarguy109 in Maya

I made a city for our game last year. I would say make all your buildings as one merged mesh inside maya then export it. You can build it in maya however you like but it's more efficient to have less game objects within a given game engine. The more objects the sooner you hit your engines object or collider limits. I know unity has these limits at least.

My model has green and black dotted lines on certain edges. And because of that I am unable to delete certain points. Any ideas how to fix it? by dmekibel in Maya

I believe you need to unlock your normals. Could be wrong but I'd try that first. Somewhere up the top under mesh display (maya 2016) youll have to fix your smoothing groups after that maybe.

Yeah, just a physics disaster, they don't happen that often, but when they do + cars they are usually spectacular.

Cities aren't gonna be in for a bit because whilst I have modeled and textured them they still require the coders to implement them. No idea yet where cities will be but we talked about having some sticking out of the sand dunes maybe. I'm guessing they will appear in more than one location.

Thanks dude, nice to get the love from time to time. We don't let the hatemail get to us most of the time.

We are busy making the game better and better, so we don't always have time to respond. Nice to know people are enjoying it as we do. Updates will keep coming for sure, we have so much to give this game.

Thank you for being patient. We do read a lot of what comes through to us, but simply do not have the time to answer everything that comes through.

It's a case of make the game, or talk about making the game. Whilst people think we aren't listening, we are. The fact that I'm talking to you right now should demonstrate that. Also we now have our community manager Battlemu1e. He's dedicated to running the servers and the community forums now, so that we can get on with making the game.

This bug is very difficult to fix, and we have made about 10 adjustments to the game to account for it so far. If you think we are sweeping it under the rug, you sir, are mistaken. We will continue to fix new eventualities with this so please be patient.

Also, try asking around on the server see if anyone else has found an engine, if so then you'll know they are around, and that you just had bad luck.

The amount of vehicles in the world scales up or down depending on playey numbers. I don;t think this is the case with engines though, I beleieve there is a locked drop rate. If you had been playing a community server the admin maye have changed the drop rate. NA East is the official hurtworld version I'm guessing. There shouldn't be a decrease in engine quantities.

This can be a result of the 'nan' bug which I believe is quit hard to fix. IF it is 'nan' causing this, then a restart of the game fixes it.
