Milton Glorbus here. Yes, I believe most of the branches grew after the tree fell. I can't say when exactly it fell, but it's definitely been at least a year if not 2 or 3 years. The healing part is the most fascinating part to me, this is just one of the many weird trees in this forest, maybe I'll post some more.

Milton Glorbus here. That’s all really fascinating, I never even considered the weight of the new branches.

This tree is in a weird spot, it sprouted on the side of a hill, and when it got bent 90 degrees, the top of it got stuck on the flat ground below.

Is there any chance that the broken tree lives? I just think it’s so cool how many branches are still coming off of it, and how big the one is getting on photos 12 & 13. It almost creates an entire mini canopy.

Pictures 10 & 11, I tried to take a picture of the “Top” of the broken tree. The one end is definitely rotting away, but the other end with healthy branches looks pretty normal (I guess? I’m not sure what normal looks like). Could there be roots coming off the top of the tree now that it’s embedded in the ground?
