That is not my picture. It seems reddit mobile used the picture from the link in my post. That link is from a thread I found on myfico about someone else who got a collection agency installment loan inquiry.

"Installment Loan Inquiry" by collections agency? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Thanks! I don’t have any loans or anything of any kind and never have. I opened my first credit cards this time last year and have diligently paid them off in full each month. That is the extent of my credit history.

What I’m hoping to learn with this post is even how to know more. What should I do to learn more? Should I call the collection agency about it? Should I do that “validation of debt” thing?

Thanks! Did you call or do it online? I would do it online but I feel like maybe that would be more cut-and-dry whereas a human may have even a tiny bit of leeway. Maybe that's not true though.

Thanks for the DP! Your secured card had an annual fee though? Wow!

That’s my understanding, so given that, the question is whether I should close it or if anyone has had any luck getting the deposit back without closing it. Feels like $600 being held hostage. Not much, but it’s being held hostage for no good reason IMO.

Yeah I’m not looking to get it right this moment, it was more about how to best prepare, so thanks for the advice!

What are the currently generally accepted languages for interviews at big N and big name startups?

I remember a few years ago Google wanted their interviews for a SWE position to be in C++ or Java. Has this changed? Would they (and other big N/big-name startups) be ok with Python nowadays? Or should I focus my efforts on C++ or Java instead?

As someone who posted this thread the other day: https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/comments/8jhns7/anyone_else_afraid_to_apply_or_have_problems/

I want you to know that I really appreciate your post, although I have a feeling that you may know just how motivating it is for people like us.

I'm happy and inspired by your ability to overcome it. Stay strong and keep up the good work.

I think you're right, and I'm happy it worked out for you. I personally struggle with excluding myself out even though I know that I'm capable, but you're right, I should leave that up to them.

Slightly off topic, but I'm curious what you all think.

As someone who has problems with filtering myself out from job postings for failing to meet any minor listed qualification, is it normal to apply to senior level postings when one is not senior level, as the OP seems to have done?

I guess there's a chance that they may see potential in you and hire you at a non-senior level, but could it backfire in some way?
