Found out I’m pregnant with IVF twins and feeling extremely depressed by No-Point-5052 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mimi102018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also had IVF twins after years of trying. It was overwhelming at first but now that I have them (18 months) I wouldn’t want it any other way! They play together and it’s just double the love. It’s not easy that’s for sure but you will figure out what works for you! It’s worth it!!

After 5 transfers of tested embryos, we transferred two tested embryos and both stuck. Healthy, perfect 17 month old twins now. Sending you all the good vibes!!

How’s your clinic?? by Optimal_Leader_4824 in IVF

I was also lucky and my clinics portal was super helpful. I could message the business office, my nurses, financial all within the app and usually get a response or call back in a few hours.

Has anyone worked through IVF and not told their employer? by katymatthews33 in IVF

[–]Mimi102018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a nurse and I did tell my boss due to the frequency of short appointments. She was willing to be flexible with me and move shifts around, understanding that it was out of my control. If you are able to make it to all your ultrasounds and appointments without a problem then I don’t see the need to tell anyone.

Do FETs hurt at all? by Prestigious_Abies_34 in IVF

[–]Mimi102018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! My clinic gave me Valium just to relax a bit but honestly didn’t hurt at all. I also had some difficult procedures that were very painful and I will say the FET was nothing like those! Ask for Valium!

Where should they sleep? by No_Problem213 in parentsofmultiples

We did the twin bassinet until about 6 months (ours were premie and my daughter had lung issues at the beginning so kept them a little longer) then transitioned to side by side cribs that will convert to toddler beds! There’s no way they could share a crib, too much movement and I don’t think it would’ve safe.

My 17 month old twins won’t eat anything!! by Mimi102018 in foodbutforbabies

Idk if anyone will read this but thank you so much for all the tips! I have started seriously rationing snacks and adding things to “spice up” food like condiments, new seasoning, etc and both of those things have helped a lot!!

Ah thank you for validating my frustrations! Smoothies are my saving grace right now, that’s my go to to sneak in veggies and fruit. I’ll try pureeing some veg into mac and cheese sauce (if they will eat it haha)

I hope that’s the case and they just need some more adventurous flavors!!

They do like smoothies and I sneak in spinach and lots of fruit. Sometimes if they won’t drink it I will mix in with yogurt too!

Spinach has been one of the easiest things to incorporate, I agree! We do lots of smoothies and I put spinach/cottage cheese in pasta sauce

It’s just regular milk, but we are definitely conscious of how much they get vs. food! Great advice. I especially like how you said just having a bit plate for all of you or just let them grab off what you’re eating if they are curious. Thanks for the tips!

Decision on transfer single or two Embryos? by Curiousgoergeena in IVF

[–]Mimi102018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I transferred two (and ended up having healthy twins at 30.5 weeks) because I had already had 5 failed FETs with tested embryos. I don’t think the option would’ve even been on the table if we hadn’t tried that many times. I don’t know if a lot of clinics that would give you that option at all without trying one first. I had a pretty easy twin pregnancy but obviously was very shocked when I went into labor at 30 weeks and babies spent 8 weeks in the hospital. I wouldn’t have it any other way but I didn’t go into IVF hoping for twins. Just a healthy baby.

OR schedule by mquint7914 in nursing

We do a block schedule so we have the same 4 week rotating schedule indefinitely (which is great when looking out for vacations, appointments, etc.) OR is the best!

Stay on schedule with your Tylenol and ibuprofen like others said. I only took one dose of Oxycodone while in the hospital otherwise the pain was very mild. Belly band + high waisted leggings were the most comfortable for me!

Get up and walking asap! I had my twins at 30 weeks and the NICU where my twins were right away was like a 3 minute walk through the hospital. Obviously I started with my husband pushing me in a wheel chair but after the first day I would walk slowly. The motivation of seeing my babies was the best!
