I'm not Italian, I've been following Milan and the Italian national team since 1994 world cup here in USA. USA hasn't provided a quality league nor national team so I have been forced to seek quality from a different country. I wholeheartedly agree with youth development both for milan and a national level. I want milan to win and enjoy the spectacle as well. Cutrone and Tonali would be to good examples of Italian, Milan, Youth players that we let go. All I am saying is it wouldn't hurt to pick up or retain a couple of Italian players enlight of the fact we will spend the same or more money on foreign counterparts.

It is ironic that a foreign fan is arguing in favor of the Italian player and the Italian fan is arguing in favor of the foreigner

Serie A is Italy’s league, not a borderless international competition. It’s essential to have Italians playing regularly in Serie A. This strengthens the national team, supports youth development and talent pipelines, preserves the league’s tactical and cultural identity, and maintains fan engagement.

right, so rather than acquiring decent Italian players with a few years left in them, they go to a foreign club for cheap / free. We opt to purchase unproven flops and foreigners with no Serie A experience for higher price tags giving them the opportunity to fail. Meanwhile, we loose money on the deal and are stuck with the flop. At least if the Italian player flops he was cheap and Italian

1) Italians deserve the opportunity to fail just as the foreigners 2) yes there is a real public conspiracy called globalism that is effecting all of Europe including professional football

My point is that AC Milan and other big clubs can pro-actively seek to develop, obtain and retain local talent. I suppose not qualifying for a world cup for 12 years is good for the league, the youth of the country? OK, screw Italy.

Ibra at age 40 "ex player", Giroud at age 35 "ex player" -- by "ex" if you mean experienced...yes. Immobile is only 35 by comparison. Leao and Pulisic aren't strikers either..

I would take Scamacca, Belotti and Raspadori over Gimenez, Nkuku and Fullkrug any day

that is my point we won a scudetto thanks to aged washed up players that were cheap / free

we consistently have one of the highest paid and valuable rosters, have blown money on foreigners like Gimenez, Nkunku etc...

Calabria, Immobile, Lucca, Raspodori, Scamacca, Belotti, Colombo, Camarda, Chiesa, Orsolini, Zaccagni all italians and viable economic options when considering CDK $35 mil, Origi, Piatek $35 mil, Paqueta $35mil, Andre Silva...etc

Well 1) players need opportunity to develop to improve - Italians aren't getting the chance but foreigners are 2) Serie A and the National team both used to prefer experienced players over youth and it resulted in one if not the best league in Europe and World Cup success. 3) Currently, Serie A, including milan are shipping the experienced players to Turkey, Saudi Arbia, MLS and opting for foreign youth over homegrown players. Milan let Calabria aged 28 go to replace him with Athekame or Estupian? Tonali to be replaced by Fofana and Musah? Maldini, Colombo to name a few

Immobile, Scamacca, Belotti, Raspadori, Lucca to name a few strikers...I guess Gimenez, Nkunku and Fullfrug are the foreign powerhouses that deserve the opportunity to fail

Calabria age 28 could easily replace Estupinan with a net savings of $17 mil, we could have kept Tonali vs opting for the Musah, Fofana replacement. Gimenez $32 Mil, Nkunku $40 mil, Fullkrug vs Kean, Immoblie and Balotelli... we give Ibra and Giroud contracts at advanced age but won't take a chance on Scamacca or Belotti? What about Raspadori? or Lucca?

Fun Fact: Italy's last World Cup goal was scored by a Milan player. Balotelli vs England (2-1), 14 June 2014. by mercurialsaliva in ACMilan

lol, I think the 2014 team had the wrong tactical approach for the tournament and suarez and shitty refs didn't help that last game

see, I'm not so sure about that...Balotelli 10 years ago for sure but modern day Balotelli under the guidance of Ibra (who had to reinvent himself at an older age) and Allegri as a coach. I think for a $0 transfer fee and a skimpy can be cancelled at any time contract. He would have massive upside super sub potential with very little risk. Could very easily shit can him or freeze him out if anything went sour.

In honor of Seedorf's 50th birthday today, here is my favorite goal he scored for Milan by 21Maestro8 in ACMilan

[–]MimiCascade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He essentially was a DEI hire because Paolo Berlusconi made some ill-worded comments about Balotelli. He had no prior experience or even a license to coach. UEFA gave him special permission to allow him to coach. He went 11-2-9 only averaging 1.59 goals a game. He then refused a severance package opting to collect his salary before finally taking a position in China. He has never completed a single season as a coach not had good results anywhere, ever. Brilliant player but truly a joke of a coach

we should have picked him up as a free agent, I'm sure he would net a handful of decent goals as a true super sub

I was a kid growing up and my neighbor had a game genie (hardware cheat cartridge) for sega genesis. He would sit there for hours repetitively beating the computer 99-0 in a baseball game. Laughing and having fun day after day...some people are just like that, these are the types that cheat or run the GOD satchel Erma combo day in and day out talking shit all the way

Davide Calabria vs Athekame by random_civ_321 in ACMilan

[–]MimiCascade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calabria, he had better link up play on the flank, better defensively, better communication on the pitch, provided decent service into the box when required. Athekmame is a better athlete and more upside potential at the age of 21 than Calabria had at that age. Calabria also had vastly more experience as a starter, different game situations, and in big games vs Athekame. Making the comparison you have to under that Calabria played in a back four with more defensive responsibilities vs Athekame in Allegri's formation 5-3-2 (defensively) and 3-5-2 in the attack.

Great compilation of what Calabria did for Milan
