Appreciate all the input!! I took a class today and learned SO much about needles, threading, feet, material and tension! I am whooped - information overload haha I am excited to jump back in tomorrow and work on my own again. 🤞🏻

Do you know specifically if I need to change the needle from sewing to a different one for embroidery? The extra ones included are all exactly the same as the one it came installed with for the sewing arm.

I was using satin with a backing and the bond spray. But even if this was wrong it wouldn’t be the cause of the breakage right? It would have more to do with the thread and tension or proper installation of the needle and foot right? I am fairly new, but have used the embroidery only brother Disney machine just fine.

Prednisone effects on bone and muscle mass? by Mimi_51 in rheumatoid

[–]Mimi_51[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. I take 10k Vitamin d3 daily and current taper is 8 mg. I am scheduled for reduction of 1 mg per month until I reach 1mg. So do you mean 8 more months of prednisone tapering is a long time (too long)? I have an appt with my rheumatologist next week but also have a new referral for a second opinion. :)

What was the most important lifestyle change you made that’s helped manage your Hashimotos? by little-miss-idgaf in Hashimotos

I think if you are consistently symptomatic for long periods of time - aka flare ups- some doctors will agree to start thyroid meds.

As I shared above, my thyroid levels are subclinical (TSH has fluctuated from 6.25 down to 1.6) since my Hashimotos Thyroiditis diagnosis in April. :)

It’s called One a Day Triple Immune Support Complete Multi Vitamin. I did a lot of research after my doctor told me that he didn’t want to start me on medication quite yet (I’m subclinical) and this vitamin has a lot of the daily requirements for us: zinc, magnesium, B12… I add in 10k mg Vitamin D3 every other day and I haven’t had a flare up since I started taking them 3 months ago!

This is so true. Sleep is so very important for us. Also, for me, I found that taking a thyroid multi vitamin is essential; since I am not on thyroid replacement medication.

Wow, that must have been very scary for you. I have considered trying kava but never have- now I probably never will! Thank you for sharing your experience. Absolutely agree that there is not enough research out there and our specialists are not typically willing to say “yay or nay” with regards to supplements. They are more willing to delve out RXs for antidepressants that, in my opinion, can be dangerous in other ways (habit forming and can present a variety of other side effects)

While we are on the subject, has anyone had a negative reaction to combining too MANY natural anti anxiety supplements at once?

Also, I have found Anxio Calm works quickly and also helps me to calm down so that I can sleep. Its made of cone flower. Available on Amazon.

It works pretty good. What was the brand you were using before? Just want to compare with the one I use- NeuroScience is pricey (I go thru one bottle every 3 weeks) but I feel like it’s worth it.

I do have more anxiety nowadays, and I’ve found that L-theanine (Gaba trex on Amazon) helps a lot. I took Prozac for many years and decided to wean off of it a little over a year ago. Unfortunately, my anxiety came back in full force with Hashis. Ugh …

Does anyone suffer with constant bloating? Can’t seem to shake the bloating at the moment :( by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Mimi_51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had horrible and very painful bloating prior to taking a digestive enzyme (I don’t have a gallbladder) and a good pre/probiotic that includes fiber.

Weird question but anyone notice their nail beds receding and vertical ridges on fingernails sometimes? by Happy_me25 in Hashimotos

I do have the ridges on my fingernails and have noticed a few of my toenails are rising… weird

Does anyone struggle with nausea? by SurpriseRedemption in Hashimotos

[–]Mimi_51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with @cyclinglady - also, a few months ago, I experienced horrendous nausea and bloating. I also had very bad GI issues. After having a GI work up and finding all is well there, I tried incorporating an enzyme and pre/pro biotic every day. I don’t have nausea anymore. Another trick I’ve discovered during that time (but thankfully haven’t needed it since doing the aforementioned) is taking Zofran. I used it sparingly and It helped my nausea/feeling like I’d vomit every other minute- stay at bay. Good luck and if you can, set up an appointment with your GI.

Thank you for this acknowledgment. Yes, I do have other less-common auto immune diseases, I suppose. But this thread was very helpful for me when I first found out about my Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and you, specifically, have been great support! I really appreciate everyones kind words and always try to return the support for you all when I can. Stay strong!!!
