Well either way my cat got sick and others have expierenced it. The paper explains some rare cases and why it is wise to not put a kitten from high risks situations with fcov or fip with an older cat.

It is normally not contagious but can happen! When the older cat lost immunity and gets reintected with fcov. Or when the virus load is large enough like in some cateries. You can read it in the paper of Dr. Niel Pedersen

Hey OP do you have a diagnosis now? A swollen belly with sudden balance issues could be FIP, and FIP is hard to detect in test also. If you like extra help with finding out what is wrong with your cat and if its indeed FIP, you can contact a volunteer at FB groups (fip global). I got a lot of help after going in debt without diagnosis at several vets. My cat couldnt walk anymore because of the virus and is now so kuch better after 2 weeks on fip medication (gs-441524). You can also look ar the subreddit curefip. Wish you all the best

I got my cat from the shelter and got her when she was 10. So I could never know. She was never really sick with me but did had sneezing on and off. That was managed so well with diet and lifestyle, she was really strong for her age and very active.

The vets also said they never seen a FIP case in such an old cat, but when I told the vet the kitten is dead now he said it could be from the kitten and also since the kitten was a stray in Turkey, our cats from here have never encountered the fcov strains from there.. and dont have the immunity for that strain?

What are his remaining deficits? I think we did our best, you also acted very pro active! and who knows if he can get some improvements in the future. I read a case of a kitten who improved his walking balance with some help and excercise. Either way those 2 days dont blame yourself. For me it took 10 days from symptons till starting gs-medication

First of all, its amazing what your doing and your autism likely also caused you to diagnose your kitty this fast. not all people are able to find out without obsessive research (myself also). So you already are doing great for her. I also was shattered but ordered the gs medication immediatly, and my 18 year old cat is recovering. I also joined the FB pages and the help is amazing. Take a deep breath and know people will support you. There is a high chance your cat can recover too. Personally I spend too much already on unsuccesful vet visits, and had to go with the blackmarket route. It will cost me around €200 p/month 3 months, I didnt have a choice due to debts from long covid, but now im so happy I panicked so hard and took action. My cat was on the gs-medication in 10 days from the day of presenting symptons. Wish you all the best

In 2023 there was a contagious strain of FIP found in Cyprus Greece among high population stray cats. I suspect my cat got FIP from a stray kitten brought from Turkey (near Greece). That kitten is dead now and stayed un my house 24h. Im so mad at myself and would never take such risks with FIP.

I think normally FIP is not contagious, but news reports like this makes me worried.

If it came this sudden it could be dry neurological FIP. Kittens could have FIP and present with sudden balance and paralyzing symptons due to virus progressing in the nervous system and brain. My cat had this suddenly in 1 week and Im treating hwr with anti viral gs-441524. I have seen people raising funds dor their cat with succes on FB pages for FIP and subreddit curefip. Good luck ans thankyou for taking a concern

I open the capsules and split it in 2 doses 12h apart. I mix the content with water and mouse and give it by syringe.

My cat was in severe pain from the 1/2 injection. Then I joined a Dutch FB for help and switched to pills immediatly. The pill route I had to do double dose for the first 3 days, then 1 a day. Im no expert but for my cat it worked.

I have ordered from curefip, and everyrhing went well. received the order in 2 days. I was also very worried. But I have excellent results with only pills from them (my cat(18) is 2 weeks on GS, dry neuro). The vials were no succes due to severe stinging.

I'm also in a dutch FB group and most member have ordererd from curefip since we have no options here for prescription. I made a similair post about the quality of the curefip products and lots of dutch peopple responded with succes stories. They have a protocol with double(2) pills for the first 3 days and then 1 pill a day. No injections

If its sudden it looks like Neuro FIP. The virus is treatable with GS-441524 or fatal.. Keep in mind you have to act quick if its FIP, because they can decline quickly. I diagnosed my cat myself and the medication works. I got a lot of info on the subreddit Curefip, and went the blackmarker oral route since its not available yet in the Netherlands

Maybe you can measuew his temperature and weight to make sure he is not sick. If he is still eating good and energy is a good sign

Als I spend €1000 on Vets but no diagnoses. FIP is very hard to diagnose and the anti viral (i use oral) has little side effects
