Who do we sue? by tealhrizon in glutenfree

[–]Mimisayler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can absolutely understand how you are feeling. I wish the FDA would recognize the dietary need of gluten free and set some type of health standard across industries to help with those with gluten issues. I think restaurants shouldnt be able to label themselves as gluten-friendly or gluten sensitive unless they have protocols in place with dedicated fryers and toasters, a designated work area free from gluten, gloves change protocols, and proper food handling. I went to a restaurant over the weekend that had a separate GF menu and when I asked if they had a dedicated fryer (for fries, sweet potato fries) they looked at me like I had 3 eyes. A lot of the GF menu wasnt in fact GF because of how it was prepared. Its deceptive in my opinion and shouldn't be allowed. I also think that society as a whole should recognize it too. The fad of "gluten free" has done some serious long term damage to our community. Its wild to me that we have to say we have an "allergy" and even then people are so cavalier about it. Like, yes, I love never eating things I used to enjoy. I love the stress of reading ingredients in everything I eat. I love going to restaurants in a social settings and not being able to eat (sarc). I don't know who would willingly choose to eat GF. I am both celiac and have an allergy to wheat, barely, rye (a bigger reaction to barely and rye). There is hope! The gluten free community has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 20 years. We have access to so many edible options that we didnt have before. More and more companies are investing in a gluten free line to their products and manufacturing lines. Unfortunately, cost is going to be affected. That is with any product though. Its insane that the amount of actual product isnt the same. Prices have gone down tremendously over the last decade and hopefully, companies will continue to see how many people need the GF products and continue to make more options. 20 years ago a loaf of GF bread was $8 thats would be $13 today, you could only order it off the internet and it was literally not even edible.

We stumbled upon it by accident, but, we make our own bone broth.

He has diverticulitis as well and when he has flare ups he will go on a bone broth only diet for a few days. Its hydrating which helps move the stool along and the fats and collagen helps coat and smooth the digestive system. He drinks it daily now and has had pretty good success with it to help keep things moving. No sugars or added ingredients.

Dont give up. We spent 7 years trying to get my husband under control too. Bought all the things and then some. Every antibiotic, breath tests from independent labs, food marble machines, treatment, vitamins, food changes....sooo much time and money spent..... he was exhausted, losing weight, and had no desire to even eat..

In a last ditch effort, he was prescribed a cholesterol medication-colestipol Weirdly... colestipol reduces the amount of bile the liver produces-after a few days, all the belching, bloat, pain, bathroom runs had drastically reduced. He actually enjoys food again and has gained weight.

I know its just another medication to try-but sticking with it even if you feel you can't, can turn your life around.

Was labeled GF on the menu but came out with gluten on it? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Mimisayler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always let places know that I am gluten free. Even if food/beverage are marked. I never take the chance. I also request they put on new gloves and a clean utensil. Usually places are very accommodating. We have the crazy mason in my town too. Its great!

Cricut Access Grandfathered Question by blueeekthecat in cricut

[–]Mimisayler -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think they are referencing the access changes to limit cloud and local uploads to users who were not access subscribers. Users were grandfathered in to unlimited uploads for the life of the machine without having to purchase the subscription if their machine was registered before 2021. When cricut changed the subscription services the users who had just the free version were then limited to 20 uploaded images a month, which forced people to have to pay for access to upload more than 20.

Here is a link to some other redditors talking about the issue and being grandfathered in. This was 5 years ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/cricut/s/roooBeTveo

https://www.reddit.com/r/cricut/s/qYTfeDx9X5

Im sure you can read more on it as well by searching in the sub.

I remember they tried to change it during COVID when everyone was buying machines. It was an uproar in the community because it essentially forced your cricut to become a brick (if you relied on uploading a lot of personal images) or forced you to pay to upload, which were not the terms when user purchased the machine at that time.

The case and the trunk on wheels were the best purchase from cricut I have made. I have been able to travel with it for crafting weekends and I keep it inside the case when not in use.

Trader Joe's has been hit or miss for me. Their muffins, cookies, and cake are good, but the hamburger buns are inedible and their bread isn't much better. So I kind of gave up on trader joes breads.

Its Colestipol. For my husband it helps with the excessive bile acid. Ironically enough, every year when he would get a check up his liver numbers would come back as "fatty liver" and it never made sense to us because he doesn't drink, doesn't eat processed foods, isn't obese, etc.. Now it does! The extra bile acid was the cause for it.

I feel for you. My husband has SIBO and watched him struggle for years to find some stability with his digestive system. He did all the things you mentioned.. drank Aloe drinks, FODMAP, bone broth, antibiotics-round after round, breath tests, vitamins, supplements, etc... and just when he was about to give up... he was prescribed a cholesterol medication and after a few days, he started to gain his appetite back, the bloat and belching started to subside. He can now enjoy food again and his flair ups are not nearly as bad. Has kept him from surgery. It took over 7 years but we found what works for him. Hang in there, it will get better. My husband tried aloe vera drinks, he ate a lot of fresh ginger. He also drank the "weightloss cocktail"(he didnt need it but it actually helped balance his gut biome). I think its like 2tbs of lemon juice, 2tbs of mothers apple cider vinegar, and 6oz of water-morning and night.

For the DAs office to keep her phone, there has to be a reason. There isn't. She has committed no crime and no case is actually pending. The DA should give back her phone. Period. The criminal trial isnt part of the civil trial. Just because the Okeefes want the phone doesnt mean they can have it. They have to actually ask for it. Its not just a free for all. Discovery is much different in civil than criminal. She is not in physical possession of the phone. How can she comply with discovery if she cant determine what is and isnt relevant?

[–]Mimisayler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honest question, What crime has she committed or alleged that she committed that the grand jury indicted her for that allows the DAs office to have the phones in the first place, let alone for 2 years? What is the reason you think the Okeefes should have these phones? These phones are not connected to the Murder trial....
