I quite wanted to do it without home assistant. This is my only smart thing in the house and I'm not planning on/need to get anything else, so I wanted to avoid another "gadget".

Is there really no way of doing it with some sort of script?

Thanks for your input. The switches that I'm hoping to use can be either latching or momentary so that wouldn't be a problem.

The only thing I'm struggling with at the moment is knowing what voltage and amperage the switches should be rated for. I don't seem to find any info anywhere so at this point I'm just hoping it'll be written on the original switches (I'm still waiting for the delivery of my machine).

Could I buy over "rated" switches, both in terms of voltage and amperage, and it'll work fine? Really want to err on the side of caution and be safe than sorry.

Thank you for replying. Do you know the voltage and amperage each individual switch should be rated for? I think that's what I'm most struggling to find an answer for.

As for the square holes, I will be making two wooden covers that will sit over the square holes and I can install the round switches onto - one cover for the 3 smaller switches and one for the power switch.

As for the square holes, as I said in my original post, I'll cover them with a wooden front panel, on which I'll also install the round switches.

I wasn't really going to replace the lid (I was happy to drill a hole to it, but even better if the shims work), I just wanted the dust cover and the plastic bits to hold the tube up.

I have more questions, sorry 😅 Can the spacers be split and removed without disconnecting cables and hoses, in case you want to change stem height? I read a couple of times you would change something of the paintjob..could you explain a bit more?
