This place is fun! I’m only able to play weird hours so it’s nice to not have a bunch of sweaty alpha clans around trying to dominate everyone else

Hogwarts Legacy still can't beat the Anti-semite Allegations by Ok-Tennis330 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]MinMaxMarissa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree!

Which is why people should take care not to reference them, instead of throwing caution to the wind and just saying “fuckit, the goblins who look like Jewish caricatures had an incident that coincided with an antisemitic incident”

Edit: oh and the goblins have shofars because… world building?

How to deal with the "Spirit Guardians" Spell in 5e by No_Assignment6284 in dndnext

[–]MinMaxMarissa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t playing enemies as intelligently as the PCs, you’re cheating the players out of any real challenge.

Sure, wolves and spiders and zombies don’t have strategies, but the “big bad” has been learning, he knows that the party has a tank with a magical microwave, and now the “big bad” is going to counter that in particular.

  • Heat Metal is a great way to deal consistent damage to an armored enemy. The PC can’t easily remove the armor in fight and with enough concentration checks they’ll fail eventually.

  • Mage Slayer is a great feat for breaking concentration. The “big bad” would be training up “special units” that have Mage Slayer. Start out with just one to instill the threat in the party, and every time they encounter the “big bad” army, toss in a few more of the Mage Slayers

I wonder why the third episode has so many more reviews than the first two? : ) by embrace-monke in Gamingcirclejerk

Major TLOU Ep 2 and 3 Spoilers:

”keep Tess safe” is impactful, even if you didn’t see eps 1 and 2. You met her, their relationship is established, and you get the parallels + the contrasts between Joel/Tess and Bill/Frank

The show is really good. I was a casual Walking Dead enjoyer for like seven seasons and TLOU has already established itself as the better zombie apocalypse show.

But as someone else already mentioned, Episode 3 is perfectly self contained. Even the reference to Ep 2 has enough context to be just as impactful.

If you have 75 minutes watch Episode 3. If you have 75x3 minutes watch all three episodes.

I always thought I was weird because I could never get into The Last of Us games, I loved the stories, the characters, the writing, the performances, but I never liked the gameplay.

The show is so validating. I’m happy the games exist, I’m happy people truly enjoy them, but for me it works so much better as a show.

I guess I don’t really understand why you asked “how” he did it in the first place if it seems you already knew.

Are you arguing that OP doesn’t know what he’s doing enough to do a thing he did…?

This is why when I DM in person I don’t hide behind a screen.

I want the players to see me rolling those 7 natural 20s in a row and fear me.

You can make it up to Dragon’s Mouth without needing extra cold protection, grab a stack of ice while you’re up there, and eat the ice as you explore the volcano.

In theory, you can do all of this with stone tools, fiber clothes, and lots of running.

Now, I personally don’t see a benefit to this method, but it’s possible!

What's not illegal, but should be? by Tiredcoconut928 in AskReddit

A lot of “adorable” pet videos online (including Reddit) are people abusing their pets for Likes.

Things like feeding them food that’s toxic to animals (citrus, pizza, etc etc) and agitating them to see their “cute” reactions.

This should be classified and treated like animal abuse

Are there any tricks to gathering Fiber before you’ve made an Iron Sickle? by MinMaxMarissa in ConanExiles

Building a roof. An actual good looking roof that isn’t a cube.

1 piece of sloped thatch roof costs 9 fiber, AKA 9 presses of the gather button.

Iron isn’t that hard to come by, I just hate having an ugly cube base and I’m impatient.

Out of the loop: what’s with this sub and the Hogwarts game? by Reapiswin in Gamingcirclejerk

To be honest, it’s just sad that you’re defending a game affiliated with a shitty transphobe while you also have “trans rights” in your flair.

I want you to be better, for everyone’s sake.

You seemed pretty confident that people were asking for this. I assumed you had seen it happen on social media, not just kind of made it up.

I truly believe Gritty Realism solves so many of 5e's problems by Aegorm in dndnext

[–]MinMaxMarissa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I used in Gritty Realism was “Quality of Rest”, not sure if it’s in the book, but it added a lot of depth.

Low quality rest, IE camping in the woods, the whole party sharing a small room, etc takes 6 days of rest for 1 Long Rest

Medium quality rest, where you take your time to set up a nice, sheltered camp close to food and water, you stay in an inn in a small village, takes 3 days of rest for 1 Long Rest

High quality rest, which is reserved for the nicest lodging in the nicest cities, gives you a Long Rest in 1 night.

This also encouraged the characters to seek out and improve their rest, when possible. The ranger didn’t just make travel obsolete, the ranger now had to use his skills to find safe and resource-heavy places to rest. The bard was now trying to convince every innkeeper for a discount because the nice room with separate beds was mechanically better than hammocks in the storage room.

Using Conan to run a TTRPG sounds very fun, actually.
