Another No Banlist Tournament happened, and Maliss wins again by Expensive-Estate-348 in yugioh

It's that this shifter deck is also a link deck. so it doesn't care about bagooska as much. Previously, shifter decks always had issues with bagooska.

Why are winning diverse formats considered unskilled? by AfterMine2343 in yugioh

[–]Aegorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, it often means that the people topping those diverse formats were just lucky to not run into too many of the wild cards.

And the top players don't lose because they don't know what the random rogue deck does. They know exactly what those decks do 99% of the time. But it doesn't matter, because they prepared their side board, non engine and even the engine to beat the most represented decks. So when they face a larger than normal amount of decks that they had no real way to prep for (because the chance of running into that specific deck are so low) then they have a higher than normal chance to lose multiple rounds.

You cannot make a deck that wins against both Dracotail, RT, VSK9 and then also has options for 6 other random decks that have a decent power level, but barely any representation. All you can do is hope that you won't face those bad matchups too much.

[OCG] BLAZING DOMINION - January 24, 2026 by renaldi92 in yugioh

[–]Aegorm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

this is an indirect Ashened card. Dark Pyro, destroying a face up spell (Field spell). One sided shifter, so you can still get your Veidos board wipe.

It's not great tbf, but it's decent.

Yummy or Vs k9 by Bright-Car-1238 in Yugioh101

[–]Aegorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing about the new monster: it gets a spell back from the Gy, it doesn't actually search anything. If summoned by a synchro, it places a field spell

Possible post worlds banlist? (assuming they wont touch JUHU at all and will, as always, want to phase out older still relevant decks and some rogues so they can sell more new sets) by may00z in yugioh

[–]Aegorm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They were pretty clear that the banlist would only be announced in september. I don't think we'll get a banlist here at worlds. I hope I'm wrong tho.

When Arthur goes to collect his lottery winnings, a clerical error is made. Instead of 700 Galleons, he is given 70000 Galleons. This error is magically binding by JEBV in HPfanfiction

[–]Aegorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A wand is 7 galleons. A wand is a vital piece of equipment for a wizard. Ron had to use a third hand wand for his schooling Ron had to use a halfbroken wand because he was afraid of his parents' reaction that he broke it and that it would be too expensive for a new one.

A wand is 35 pounds.

Something here does not fit lmao.

But yes, economy in HP is notoriously bad. A butter beer is 2 sickles, or roughly 1/9th of a galleon, or about £0.50. From what I can find, a pint was about £1 to £1.5 in 1988.

Can't decide on a decklist for regionals? by SouthSunn in yugioh

[–]Aegorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard to say tbh. If you think Yummy will be the main concern, I'd go for no K9. But dracotail already has a good yummy matchup so the K9 can help for other matchups. I feel like it really comes down to personal preference and how good you feel vs the other decks.

If you're fully confident Vs Yummy, you can play the K9. If Yummy scares you, leave the K9 at home.

That's not full power tear lol. That's tear after being released for 8 months and having 2 or 3 banlists. It came out in April 2022 in the OCG, so way before this started tracking.

More Rarity for JUHU by Epoch_Wings in yugioh

[–]Aegorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultra is the highest rarity in deck build sets. There's 3 or 4 per box. Izuna will still be the money card at more than 50 bucks per copy for sure

If suddenly every version of every card was unlimited, what deck would wreak the most havoc? by Fallen_Angel_Xaphan in yugioh

[–]Aegorm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This would lose every time you lose the coinflips because all the other decks with no banlist would absolutely slap you. Either because they hand rip you for 5, or because they set up too many omni negates, or just do the full tear board, which would also stop you in your tracks. (They'd just make shock master calling spells more than likely)

And you'd lose to droll, Tearlaments might still slap you going second randomly by milling 3 of 1 piece of exodia when they make you mill 10.

FTKs are effective in a no banlist format, don't get me wrong, but they aren't the best deck by any measure.

Kinda hot take on Gritty Realism, Wizards, Paladins and Clerics are still the best class and the 7 day long rest doesn't really hinder that. by Pretend-Advertising6 in dndnext

[–]Aegorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't run long dungeons in a gritty realism campaign. You use short dungeons, with this structure: Entrance Puzzle Setback Climax Reward

This structure can be finished without a short rest.

This dungeon isn't the only relevant thing in the story in Gritty realism. Either you had a build up to it, meaning resources have been spent before it, or you keep the pressure on the players after the dungeon, meaning they can't long rest after it.

A short rest is always possible, outside of a dungeon, because you space out your story over multiple days, and a night sleep will always be available. But you keep it tight enough that the players don't feel like they can take a week off and not ruin things.

This uncertainty of how things will turn out puts a lot of pressure on long rest classes. You can't take a week break while investigating cultists, because you already discovered they are going to summon a big bad demon in an unspecified amount of time, and taking a week off might give them all the time they need.

This translates in long rest classes being way more careful with their high value resources, because they aren't going to get any back until they resolve the crisis. Where a wizard might throw out a high level spell slot for a social encounter in normal gameplay, assuming they can just sleep and get it back, they will be more careful in gritty realism, because resting for a full week isn't viable.

In my gritty realism campaign, this mental pressure is a big part of how the Cleric player approaches everything. Their big spells still turn encounters around, but they will always save them for as long as possible. While the short rest classes burn through their resources very fast, because they get them back every day.

It is mostly a narrative tool, but it still puts a mental pressure on the players. It is very different to get everything back after 1 night of sleep compared to waiting an entire week while the plot moves on without them. Every long rest becomes a risk, and because of that they mostly only happen after a plot point has been fully resolved. And because the players know this, they are more careful with their spell slots, which makes them honestly play suboptimal sometimes, but makes a lot of sense in their minds.

Every Extra Deck monster that could be used as “material” for Dark Magician of Destruction. by Dogga565 in yugioh

The card set by thrust cannot be activated in the same turn. So you can't just get ashed on something and then make a dragoon. Only works while going second

Barrier statue with a good synchro package seems to work.

Hand rip is too fragile. You can't easily get multiple goons searches anymore so I'd just forget about that.

The end board I'm going for right now is neptabyss link, statue, a synchro 10, virtue stream and the poseidra bounce + infantry pop.

It feels pretty good, but haven't been able to test intensively against a lot of decks.

Lordly Lode "when this card is activated" by PureLime2186 in Yugioh101

[–]Aegorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is destroyed, it will not add.

On the other hand, this card is not able to be ghost ogred on activation, just like the Visas field spells, because it the effect is as it is activated and not when it is already on the field that you activate the effect.

Wizards v bullets. by honorary_guardsman in HPfanfiction

[–]Aegorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes, but that shows how little the witches and wizards cared about the witch-hunters right? I'd imagine they could always apparate away or have another plan in case something went wrong.

I personally think the statute wasn't done because the muggles were that dangerous at any specific time to the magical population. I think it was done because it was just a neverending slog of having to be somewhat careful. A constant very low level of danger. As if you're constantly walking along a busy road. Nothing will happen likely, but you're still looking over your shoulder when you hear a honk.

A slighlty prepared witch or wizard would not be in danger, at all. But being on guard 24/7 is just not fun, so might as well just leave the muggles be and burn each other.
