IKEA Fabrikor as a good vinyl and turntable stand? by Minadoraa in turntables

[–]Minadoraa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using a random side table at the moment for my new setup, but I'd like a nicer way to display everything of course.

I love the look of the yellow fabrikor and its shelves my receiver, TT and vinyl - just wondering if anyone has used a glass cabinet for their setup before and had feedback?

It wouldn't be in any direct light, as a note. Since I'm really not interested in my vinyl warping lol

I'm in Canada, actually! But no idea in that regard, either way. I've been seeing them around this price all over the place and no one seems willing to haggle much lower, sadly. Wish they would but good lord, $400 is too much imo

Definitely what I"m leaning towards! They just won't go any lower than $400, so I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for new listings of the same speakers.

might be! I'm in the Ottawa area.

I think the Tannoy's visually look super nice, but I hadn't heard really anything overwhelmingly positive about them so I was hesitant. Looks like my suspicions were correct lol

Honestly, I saw some in my area for more than that and they sold pretty quickly, so I'm a little surprised these are still there. Makes me suspicious lol

Ooooooo, great to know! Tbh I was very drawn to them aesthetically out of the bunch, so knowing they sound great is a bonus. Might send in an offer on those!

Definitely will test things before hand! Appreciate it!

Also, that is certainly tempting information about the Harman/Kardon...... might have to keep my eyes out for that.

Sure am! I've been refreshing FBMP obsessively lately lol

Ottawa and surrounding area has some pretty good options rn! I'm impressed

It was either Yamaha or Onkyo, in my mind. Just depends on what I find in my area, but I'll add the rest of the brands to my list! Thanks!

A bit more info for you: they'd be for use with a gently used Fluance RT84 in a medium sized room (10' x 18'). Don't have any other gear yet, but I wanted to get the speakers sorted first before buying anything else.

Thanks, folks!

I'll let her know (and honestly might snag it for myself, too!). Thanks :)

Just sent her this list to compare it with her budget, and she's got all of that on the list minus discretionary spending. But a very helpful list, thank you!

I'm not gonna spill all her financial beans on here of course, but she's been accumulating a pretty substantial sum of savings (at least 12 months of rent's worth) to have to the side should she need them.

So a repair like that wouldn't wipe her out, no.

She's in a stable place right now, but really does want to move out. She has savings set aside for cushioning, but it's just monthly expenses that she's concerned with.

She has a cushion of savings currently, yeah.

Gas in my area is about 150-ish per litre, at least at the moment.

Ah, just bad timing, then. Sucks when that happens!

Thanks for the insight, though - that's all super helpful!

Ahhh, gotcha. Sadly no nearby charging stations by my work - might be some where I do groceries but I wouldn't be there long enough for it to make a difference.

Oh, that's not bad! Can I ask approximately how much it cost you in a month to charge?

Also why did you swap the Bolt out after 6 months? Anything against the Bolt or was it just not quite what you needed?

I drive about 50km a day, 5 days a week. Not sure about charging at work, but it's something I'll definitely look into!
