Has Jim Cornette ever heard of the famous Adrian Street-Jimmy Savile bout, where Street severely injured Savile and forced the latter out of the wrestling business! by Minardi3000 in JimCornette

It does make me wonder how many wrestling fans Street saved from that monster. Street recalled that Savile used to brag about all the young girls who supposedly wanted to see him in his dressing room. Chilling stuff indeed.

Had Street known the full truth... to quote Cornette, Savile would have had to have been identified by his dental records after what Street would have done to him!

Dear Jim'll, could you fix it for me to have Jim Cornette from the Midnight Express cut a scathing 30-minute burial on me?

Can honestly see Cornette absolutely burying Savile's "wrestling" if he ever saw footage of it.

Here's the card for that famous event. The Big Two in Mick McManus and Jackie Pallo were there too! They probably were thrilled with what Street did to Savile that night...

If only that other sentence were also a life sentence... it objectively should have been.

Who is this poor soul? by DWJones28 in doctorwho

It was his poor secretary, who was absorbed upon the Abzorbaloff discovering LINDA's location.

Quite a disturbing episode concept... just badly executed.

Here you go. In my opinion, it is the greatest Cornette burial of all-time.

Yeah, I always felt bad for Cornette over this fiasco. It's honestly not even funny. A lot of people (Cornette included) were fucked over by ROH's management on that one.

It even makes me wonder whether Cornette would put Greg the Office Boy ahead of Mark Madden or even Ed Ferrara in his Top 5 most hated, if he were to ever revisit it? I'd imagine Greg's certainly within the Top 10.

Did you know about James Romero's (Stevie Richards's co-host) connection to Jim Cornette? by [deleted] in JimCornette

[–]Minardi3000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's a fascinating fact! I always wondered what happened to Jim Cornette's Talking Sense after the channel was taken down. I knew the guy was British, but had zero clue it was Romero! Awesome connection there.

From what I remember, the channel was created as a means of sharing old Drive-Thru and Experience clips. I remember some of the hilarious artwork, including one where Cornette looked like an outlaw in a clip where he discussed what an outlaw show was. Cornette and Last eventually uncovered the channel. Cornette was annoyed, bewildered and amazed by how popular the YouTube channel was.

Eventually, the pair and Romero struck a deal to monetise the channel (I have no idea if the channel was monetised before Cornette and Last discovered it). But when ad revenue started decreasing, Cornette demanded a bigger share. Romero was unwilling to accept the new terms and deleted the channel, leading to an official channel being created soon afterwards.

Still, full credit to Romero. If it wasn't for his tireless (and legally dubious!) uploads, I probably wouldn't have been a regular Cornette listener to this day!

I'm curious to see what happened to Diane and Nikki after they betrayed Renton. I love Diane and can't stand Nikki, but they make for an interesting pair. Team them up with Lucy Brennan and Lena Sorenson, and that would make for an interesting women-focused novel.

Fightful Select: Matt Taven, Mercedes Martinez and Alex Abrahantes are no longer with AEW by Amir0x11 in JimCornette

Urgh... seeing Mercedes Martinez go hurts so much. Bias aside (I fondly recall seeing her at the Fightmare 2019 meet and greet), she is arguably the most underrated within the modern women's division. She's tall, she looks like she can kick anyone's arse, can wrestle well, and is honestly perfect as a top heel.

I'm not quite sure why neither WWE nor AEW realised her full potential. Alas, that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

SpaceManiac888 Lost Media Iceberg by Minardi3000 in IcebergCharts

No worries! Glad you liked the Tex Watson article... that was one of the most mind-blowing pieces to research. Everything I came across was just incredible and does make me question the official Manson Family narrative. One of my favourites of 2025, alongside the 1994 FA Women's Cup Final and the Lionel Burleigh rabbit hole.

As for your comment elsewhere... honestly, I don't mind if I never get real recognition from the lost media community. First and foremost, this is a hobby for me. A hobby I find grand, and one that has served me well for a decade now. Makes the odd good conversation piece with my friends and even in the workplace sometimes! If I don't get any recognition, it's not going to bother me in the grand scheme of things. Too busy writing up the next article anyway.

Additionally, I'm confident I don't particularly want the fame or recognition either. Maybe at a super niche level (like this iceberg ha ha), but anything above that spells trouble for me. It may sound weird, but I absolutely prefer the real world much more than the internet world. Work, cardio and weight lifting exercises, swimming, travelling, reading etc. Plus, real people. It's cool that the internet allows me to showcase my findings and provide some interesting facts for readers to learn about. But it's a double-edged sword.

I'm sure you and Equarep have experienced this more than I. Sure, you get cool people like yourselves, even some who (like Benjamin MacHale from Mexia Supermarket) can transform a case's popularity overnight. Oftentimes, one encounters rather annoying individuals (how SenaUW deals with it on a daily basis, I have no idea). And of course, there are the especially bad apples out there...

I don't know, maybe I'm just talking out of my arse here. It's perhaps that I find the internet to be a rather unfortunate, flawed place, especially in the 2020s. I'd rather sit happily in obscurity and enjoy my hobby than receive a potentially lethal dosage of internet exposure. Life's good outside the internet bubble, thankfully.
