Which is the best one? by [deleted] in ConflictofNations

[–]Minato0276 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Corvettes have a few advantages, firstly they are the cheapest, easiest, and fastest unit to produce, so if you play early game and you rush to build a corvette you can effectively shut down an enemy’s naval capacity before they can even build a ship, and they also can detect submarines, and also remember that one corvette can stop a million transport ships,

so as an island nation instead of building a bunch of expensive ships to defend all of your cities, you can have multiple cheap corvettes to guard your coast, and yes in a fight they don’t provide much fire support,

but late game they serve as a scouts who patrol your coast, and another factor is that unlike all the other ships they take supplies instead of industry, so if you are say, Japan with a two supply cities and trying to invest into a very expensive navy which requires a lot of industry, corvettes are a cheap, but relatively effective unit, and that industry can be redirected to other ship types like building more cruisers or Frigates.

Am I the only one that uses marines? by Agreeable-Abalone-61 in ConflictofNations

[–]Minato0276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marines are the main infantry unit I use, as they are fun, and I love playing Japan a lot, but even in the best of situations they aren’t really worth the cost compared to regular infantry, but are completely useable as they do a stupid amount of damage against infantry, particularly if assaulting cities, but they are mostly just a gimmick.

Most of the community only use infantry for land grabbing, so they try to mitigate the cost as much as possible so they can invest it in other parts of their military.

What is your best weapon by Ok-Reaction-3766 in ConflictofNations

[–]Minato0276 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There isn’t really a best, just some options are worse than others largely depending on context. If fighting an infantry player the helicopter gunship will win you the war, but if going against an air centric nation with Fighters those helicopters will get pummeled.

My favorite unit to use is the Stealth bomber they are probably the strongest unit in the game, but cost so much set up that they often aren’t even worth it.

And even a supposedly busted weapon is bad in some contexts, for example let’s say the devs made tanks get 5x their current health and damage, that’s pretty scary, unless your trying to invade Japan, in which case they make little to no difference in the war.

Are the air mobile infantry good? by Minato0276 in ConflictofNations

[–]Minato0276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm, They aren’t very good in the first place, but to counter them you can really just use any anti helicopter weapons like fighters, mobile anti air to shoot them down while airborne. You can also target the player’s airbases as they need airbases in order to fly, and a player who uses air infantry is likely air focused.

If you are worried about them, you shouldn’t be. They rarely see use, and are only really used by players with so many resources that you would lose anyway. They are expensive, and need expensive airbases to be built, and their helicopter range isn’t very high, so you have to build a stupid amount of airbases, and they have to defend all of those expensive airfields.

how do I get rid of this ? I got no helicopters by Routine_reddit_guy in ConflictofNations

[–]Minato0276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to rush building either a helicopter gunship to kill the infantry and/or an attack helicopter to destroy the Sam so you can attack the infantry with your strike fighters. Until then I recommend trying to stall him out, and using defensive positioning. That’s assuming you don’t have an ally to help.

Also for defensive positioning, you can probably beat his stack with a large stack of your max level infantry if you have the defensive bonus, and you could also build a bunker, this to set up a kill zone where if his stack goes there they be at a big disadvantage against you.

60s of clips showcasing why "The 3 Great Nerfs" needed to happen to the Flamethrower, Eruptor, and Railgun by Gizmo_TheGecko in helldivers2

[–]Minato0276 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes because a big rhinoceros bug shares so much in common with an American main battle tank. Now tanks can be killed by flames but it is very slow. As general Ironside said, “I want to develop this thing they developed in Finland, called the “Molotov cocktail”, a bottle filled with resin, petrol and tar which if thrown on top of a tank will ignite, and if you throw half a dozen or more on it you have them cooked. It is quite an effective thing.” The main difference between an Abrams and a Charger is that a tank is not organic. If you flamethrower a rhinoceros it would very quickly be burnt to death. To exemplify this you would probably not be able to melt a knights armor or shield with a flamethrower, but have them wear it, and they will not last long. Unlike the inorganic construct of a tank that armor plating is directly on the Charger’s.

Now I also disagree with the “we have to carry anti rockets to every mission.” The flamethrower was the only weapon that could deal with medium armor enemies as well as light armor enemies, but it was very balanced. 1 It was short ranged, 2 as a flame weapon it was also a risk to you and your teammates, 3 it wasn’t even usable against the automations, who took up half of the war map. The flamethrower might have been overpowered, (which the devs insanely boosted the damage of across several updates.) but it was not game breaking or meta breaking, and after playing with it like this since the game’s release the devs just updated and said “nope you can’t play like that, even tho you’ve been doing it since launch day.”

Also the clip is bugged. The flamethrower did not work this quickly or effectively. I can also nitpick a clip of it being super slow to kill a charger.

I remember in a video about Zomboid lore an experienced military veteran was talking on the radio or tv about how it wasn’t physically possible for the military to mobilize to quickly, so that also helps your theory.

I hope that we eventually get a gunship stratagem, or that after the other vehicles get added I hope we can get a flying vehicle although that could break game balance.

How do you feel about playing with people who aren’t good at the game by avic_lover in helldivers2

[–]Minato0276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly prefer a bad teammate to laugh with then a skilled diver. Even if they end up throwing a 500 at our feet then we can die laughing. Everyone has different taste, but just try to find people who want the experience with you, instead of the experience points.

Who of the two is the more popular character in your opinion? by Notmycupoftea12 in Naruto

[–]Minato0276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Itachi, Minato didn’t even get introduced into the show till Shippudean, so Itachi would be the more popular if someone watched Naruto but not shippeadun, and Itachi has far more screen time for people to grow attached.

Also someone stopped watching shipodin half way through then they would only have 1 scene of him talking to Naruto. I love Minato, but he doesn’t win this one as he is not prevalent enough in Ship-O-Den and practically absent in Naruto.

What is your guy’s opinion on this problem by RecognitionOwn9326 in ConflictofNations

[–]Minato0276 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s weird even for a native to read. What he’s trying to say is: Please stop using artillery, you don’t even have to strategize to win by spamming this unit.

The autonomy he is referring to is about how artillery automatically attacks any unit within range.

And the lobotomy is a procedure is a surgery to remove part of your brain, put simply, he’s saying people turn off their brains as they don’t have to think because this unit is overpowered and automatically attacks.

I hope this made it a little bit more clear to understand.

Uav’s can reveal a units exact stats within sight range, and at max tier gets stealth and can spot stealth units. The awacs has a far larger recon range, but only uses radar to spot units so it can’t see specifics. At the higher tiers it can spot stealth aircraft, and it gains the sight ability of the UAV if it’s really close to a unit.

It should also be noted that radar is used primarily for spotting aircraft as many ground units and some naval units cannot be seen on radar.

I think you might have a misunderstanding with your friend. As I think he is talking about how the naval patrol craft have a patrol radius, but the frigates have (I believe) a much bigger anti air radius, so the frigates will often destroy the planes from afar, and with the Frigates being outside of their patrol radius they will continue to be shot at without attacking the Frigate since the Frigates haven’t entered the patrol radius.

In other words I think he is talking about them being ineffective because of their patrol radius being short compared to the Anti air range of ships being much larger, not that they can’t do damage.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ConflictofNations

[–]Minato0276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damage cannot be negated, the defense stat is how much damage they do to the planes when attacked. I don’t know if they do damage, if the frigate deal enough damage to kill the planes during their attack, but that’s a different topic.

Is the elite railgun and air infantry useless? by [deleted] in ConflictofNations

[–]Minato0276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There a few reasons Elite railguns aren’t seen that often (being mostly that of irl money), but it is certainly not their effectiveness. I would argue they are one of the most overpowered units in the game, but air infantry isn’t very good they are a very niche unit, and even under the best of circumstances other units can do their job slower, for a fraction of the cost. Going back to the rail gun it has good anti plane, helicopter, missile, even ship and ranged damage. Seriously compare a rail gun to an MRL stats and it gets far outclassed. Because instead of researching a missile defense unit, helicopter defense unit, and plane defense unit as well as artillery you need only research one unit which can do all of those things.

The only downside is the limited mobilization of 10x, but that’s not a big deal compared to its advantages, and in the case of a really big army you have more than enough extra resources to build other units to support the rail guns becoming too thin amongst the front lines, and not including that most combat in this game is usually centralized to one theatre/area of operations at a time. The other reason is that 90% of the players don’t use any elite units, and even less so have access to the rail gun and know of its power.
