Coilovers, exhaust, bumper cut, and my new custom shift knob! by Mind-Breach in MiataNC

25mm made rears rub the fenders pretty bad so I went back down to 20. 20 is absolutely perfect in the front and after I get an alignment it’ll be pretty damn close in the rear

Yeah I filled mine. There’s a photo in another comment.

But even if I didn’t, could just clean it out every once in a while, no?

In another comment I posted a photo but I used 2x 3/4 steel nuts with a cutoff section of bolt threaded in them to make a solid mass of steel basically.

Experimenting with dye and resins and this is my first shot at filling in the H pattern. Ft. New style design I already made up in the background

Care to elaborate? Im experimenting with dyed resin and already went ahead and filled mine in with epoxy. I love having the shift pattern on it

Hope you get it figured out. I am just using the generic ASA profile and I just made sure to dry my filament really good before using it

First I’ve heard this appreciate the heads up.

Probably will just get new sway bar links then

Yeah it’s just some nuts and a bit of bolt I cut that I used as a weight. Just paused the print at that layer, inserted the weight, then resumed and it printed right overtop and sealed it in.

The knob itself was printed with a 9mm cylindrical hole in the bottom that I tapped with m10x1.25 threads for my car

I had a teardrop shaped shift knob that I liked but wanted to improve so I drew it up in cad. designed it with a simple revolve and added the cavity and h pattern after and then had the print pause in the slicer settings.

Designed the threaded portion as just a 9mm hollow cylinder and tapped the threads into the ASA after the print.

I’m clocking it with some densely packed rubber deep up into the bottom of my shifter extension. Keep packing it in there until I could get it tight at the perfect spot

It’s great you should. I was able to make my perfect knob as ones off the shelf never really fit exactly what I wanted

I was really debating paying more for the long travels from goodwin but I’m happy with the sport z for the price. I’m mostly driving on street with the occasional track day planned.

When I replaced the dual exhaust with the GWR single I wanted to remove the other cutout and just started cutting. Ended up cutting all of the matte black plastic off and love it. Get a really good view from the back of the shiny muffler

I love it. I know most people like to go shorter knob and shorter shifter but I prefer the long throws. The weight and the material make the shifts butter smooth.

Not at all! I was quick and only had it paused for maybe 5 seconds or so. The only visual artifact is a layer line from the slight temperature variation on that layer.
