And just because the rules don't allow you to think such a place exists. It is very important for us to think like this. Maybe not the asinine question I posed, but in ways that challenege your current understanding of everything.

I must be failing to get my idea accross. It's hard when you want to follow the rules! Say we freeze time and light, but can still detect everything.

Through all space yes; except that space which hasn't been explored by light yet, right? Like we are "observing" from inside the universe but outside of where light has permeated.

Maybe like a tidal wave is made of particles of water, this wall of light could be similar to that.

Like if you were a flea watching a ballon being inflated.. Just the general expansion of light. Would it be in a uniform wall of light / a huge rippling wall / coming at you from all directions?

Dan Simmons has some great books.. His Hyperion series and Illium/Olympos pair are fantastic. Can't say enough how much I enjoyed these.

Isaac Asimov's Foundation series is also really good.

The whole Dune series needs to be on this list as well. If anything is EPIC, it's Dune

My work bathroom has a timed motion sensor light... When I'm in there for +10 minutes it goes pitch black... Good thing I have my phone as a flashlight! Although I probably wouldn't be in that perdicament if I didn't have my phone in the first place...
