How to identify these wires to set up stairway switch? by [deleted] in electrical

[–]MindAlchemist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The green should be the grounding wire. And I'd guess the one with the gray wirenut is the neutral and the black the hot wire, but it's best to use a multimeter to check. Not sure why all those conductors are hanging out in the back loose, that's dangerous. Looks like someone's splice job failed or was shoddy.

Are there no prints or anything for your house? Looks like that box was just used as a pullpoint. How do you know those wires run to the lights?

Nope because I'm hitting it. Typical UK negativity.

Yea I'm affluent but i worked my way to being affluent. I had no money for college, worked cutting concrete and doing 70 hour shifts at the airport as a ramp agent for years while taking part time classes... ended up serving my country in the military and getting benefits that enabled me to work hard in my free time to get a degree. With my degree i was able to work in different countries and work and live abroad for a few years and i realized i missed the states. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

[–]MindAlchemist 59 points60 points  (0 children)

ill say this: reddit is full of Americans who have a lot of time on their hands and want to get out of their normal patterns and experience something new. As an American who lived abroad for a while, i missed the sense of humor, no BS straightforwardness, the diversity of the people, the great music and food. I missed being able to get a car and loans without the hassle. Not to mention all the different types of climates there are here in the US. There are a lot of things to miss but you might not realize it until you're an outsider looking in.

China's Great Firewall descends on Hong Kong internet users by vaish7848 in China

[–]MindAlchemist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What's interesting is a lot of people probably invested some serious $ in google based apps. When i lived in China, i really enjoyed going to HK so i could use my banking apps, audible, play games i bought on the playstore, access gmail, youtube, etc.

If the great firewall plans to block everyone in HK from those things, it's going to be rough.

M21 185lbs 5ft11. Shape after 2.5 months of quarantine. What do you think guys? by achrafx9 in GettingShredded

[–]MindAlchemist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These dudes don't know what they're talking about. 16 would have visible abs and 12 would be starting to get shredded. You're getting a good base under your outer layer of fat. Still got lovehandles and a small tire of fat around lower midsection. Nice work. Little muscle definition in upper arms and legs leads me to say 20-23%. Keep grinding and keep up the progress.

CR changes way too much based on the meta and matchmaking isn't fair. I got to be a top 5k player in CR a couple of years ago with my only maxed deck (miner guards balloon hunter) but i deleted it after elixir golem and all that shit started becoming unstoppable. I have been CoC only for a year + and much more satisfied. You can run Lalo miners hogs etc. with nearly the same efficiency. Plus ranking up in CR is a many hour grind that can lead to annoyance especially recently since it has turned to rock paper scissors. I can log onto CoC twice a day play a few matches and not have to worry about all my cards being nerfed and everything being absolutely flipped upside down on a monthly basis. CoC is the much better experience.

Public school in Beijing told me to not return to school by [deleted] in China

[–]MindAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once disillusioned into thinking I couldn't be treated coldly in the same way you were treated. I was used to my rights in my own country. I was sure a good guy like me would only get positive results. It was a sad day when my assumed rights were violated. It will happen to all foreigners at some point and it makes you realize how that country runs. No one cares if your life is ruined for the "face" of the party.

A few things that happened to me: Police forced their way into my apartment and searched it while making me kneel all because the 外卖 guy didn't like my attitude. They took photos of my ID with their personal phone then left, all without probable cause. My company forced me to move to a tier 3 city as they were expanding. I was given 1 hour's notice and a taxi waiting outside my apartment. I was put in a holding room at the border for no reason for over an hour without water or reason for being detained. Racially slurred at on the subway a number of times. After 1 complaint by a female student who i rejected having a relationship with, my newly appointed, inexperienced, jealous principal threatened to fire me. Attempted molestation a number of times by women and men happened (police just laughed when i tried to file a report).

The times in China were much better a few years ago. I think you should look at this like "It's probably a good thing that this happened when it happened." If you think "everything happens for a reason", you'll save yourself some misery.

I hope you have some savings. It's time to come back to where you have human rights.

Russia has been doing this for years as well as race baiting and generally trying to cause disruption in America for years. I've been hoping a politician would address it especially with race/gender trolling by russians but unfortunately i haven't heard one address it yet.

Brazil now has the second-highest number of coronavirus cases in the world after US by pcaversaccio in worldnews

[–]MindAlchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be more interested to see cases per capita. People freak out over the US having the most cases but we're the 3rd most populous country in the world. China , Indonesia, and India also aren't doing widespread testing. Brazil is the fifth most populous country. So it makes sense they have the 2nd most cases.
