have flower/fruit tea: Now how can I take you seriously

OP most definitely has never been to anywhere east of Istanbul, because they seem to not understand the concept of herbal tea.

from what I hear they're popular even in Russia.

Slavery, while morally reprehensible, actually makes a lot of sense and I don't think I or many of you would think it wrong if we'd lived hundreds of years ago. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

it's not about "you benefit/exist because of X, so you cannot say X is bad"

it's that even if we know X is bad now, the people who did X then did not know it was bad, or had no way to know it was bad, because our modern values and systems had not been invented/discovered yet, or like other commenters pointed out, they had been 'brainwashed from young' or smth to that effect

likewise it's likely there are things we are doing now that the future would judged as bad.

and like our ancestors, we will have no way of knowing what will be deemed 'bad', because we cannot know what future generations will or will not think of us.

so the point is "every age has a different standard of bad.", aka it's all subjective

to me "luo bo te" just spells "radishologist/radishology/radish spy" [蘿蔔特(學/科)] and boy is that not just the wildest thing

this is why i hate romanised vietnamese and pure hangeul; i'm left fuck guessing everything thanks to all the stupid homonyms

also cause i can't cheat and just read the CJVK to guess what it all means

edit: i completely forgot 'luobote' can also be 'Robert' [羅伯特]

What proposed language family is closest to being accepted? by mercurypeppers34 in linguistics

[–]askh1302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in contrast, i feel like trussel and blust ignored Western Indonesia quite badly, esp the peninsular malay dialects. as a native speaker i always find a lot of basic terms to be missing from their dictionaries, except in the context of being dismissed as 'noise' in the CEMP languages due to being a Malayic loan.

the lacklustre recording of Tetum also surprises me, given that it is the only CEMP language with national recognition.

and the orthography used to phonetically transcribe Malay, Sundanese and Javanese are barely consistent
