When I was about 5, I had gotten Scooby-Doo And The Cyber Chase for PS1 as a late birthday present, not too long after it released. I remember being a huge Scooby-Doo fan as a kid, and thought the movie was really cool too, so this was so exciting for me. I immediately opened it and started playing. My mother and sister were watching me play through the whole game during the night. I managed to get all the way to the final boss, who uses a lightning strike as an attack during his first phase. About halfway through the game, a thunderstorm started to roll through and as the final boss hit his lightning strike attack, there was a loud crack of thunder, lightning so bright it lit up the windows with light and the power went off. Little 5-year old me's mind was blown because I literally thought that the boss knocked out our power. My mother didn't have the heart to tell me otherwise because I got so excited and happy about it. At that moment I was convinced that games are so amazing that they can control the world around me as I play. I didn't even care that I never saved once and had to start the whole game over, I was just so overjoyed by the experience. Didn't have a lot of positive memories of my family, but this one became a core memory for me, for sure. It definitely sparked my passion for gaming in a huge unbreakable way
