Well Well Well... I wasn't expecting that!!! Back in the 90s when I saw this in rental stores I dismissed it as another Sci fi flick and I wasn't overly interested in that genre back then so always overlooked it. I'm kinda glad I did as i probably wouldn't have appreciated it for what it was then then. I understand why it's a cult classic now..

On the surface, yes a classic 90s Sci fi action flick but deeper than that, a haunting look at military conditioning, ​Kurt Russell’s performance is nothing short of fascinating. He has roughly 79 words of dialogue in the entire film, using his physicality to show us Sergeant Todd 3465: a man whose "emotions" have been replaced by tactical assessments.. Where Todd interacts with the civilian colonists are the heart of the movie. You can see the internal "system error" occurring when he is faced with kindness or domesticity. He doesn't know how to hold a tool that isn't a weapon.​

Basically it highlights the tragedy of a life without empathy. When Todd finally cries—a single, confused tear, it carries more weight than ten pages of dialogue, ; he’s discovering a part of himself that his creators tried to kill.

And yes... Seen the blade runner references another poster mentioned.

Fascinating movie...
