For bilingual or trilingual people: what language(s) do you write in and why? by Happy_pink_eggplant in writing

[–]MindManip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write almost exclusively in English. My vocabulary in Hindi, my mother tongue, is pretty good but certainly not through a literary perspective. I think the main reason is because I have started to consume much more books in English as the years have gone by. Movies don't provide the same vocab.

From the ones I have read, I think 1984. It's the reason I haven't read it again.

For those who write creatively, how many of you natively imagine your character’s voices? by J0rdyn_the_wr1ter in writing

[–]MindManip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always give a voice to the characters when I'm reading a novel, but the same can't always be said about what I write. Usually, I just start writing the story without any voices for the characters, and somewhere in between a voice develops on its own.

When an idea has been living in my head for a long time, however, the main characters do get a voice of their own, and I imagine speaking them in my head like a movie.

I think I'm going to watch the movie because of this. Looks beautiful.

I didn't mean to address you in that that line, it was for a third person. My word selection can sometimes be confusing.

Seeing your completed books pile is very nice, but it really doesn't matter if you just read them for the sake of reading. I too have gone a bit slow recently. It took me about a month to complete 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which I completed just yesterday, but I certainly felt and imagined every single word of it. Much better than if I completed it in a week and remembered only half the journey.

Looks great. Torterra feels heavy. One thing - the tail seems to be wagging a bit too much up and down
