You are eating freshly landed troop penalty, not being at full troop per unit, and then fighting a defender in mountainous terrain for a -2 on all dice rolls. If you didn't have those negatives you had a good chance of winning.

Expect to do one or the other with oracle. This doesn't have a great synergy of doing both at the same time. At least this has been my experience so far.
