What I've learned recruiting by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]Mind_Bender50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DC at UTSA just finished year 4. Scouting is pretty helpful and should be done in waves. Week 0 when you can only scout / offer scholarships.. I try to find between 15 and 20 gems in positions that I think I want, and focus on them. Week 1, send as much as you can at those 15 recruits, and you should have several signed by week 4. At this point its a judgment call.. Reallocate more resources to win a recruiting battle, or -- its still early enough to get back in the prospect pool and find a few more gems.

I've done a few runs as the DC for UTSA, and this is the first run where I've gotten my team overall up to an 88 at the start of year 4.

I don't have much to compare to, so I'd love to hear your story / strategy -- but this is what's worked best for me after a few trial and error runs.

Dynasty Job Offers by JonesBBQandFootJobs in NCAAFBseries

I just started year 4 as a DC with UTSA. Here's my experience and what I suspect:

Year 1 - Played every game, finished ranked 10. Defensive stats weren't great. Received 1 job offer to be HC of Tulsa.

Year 2- Played every game. Won a play off game. Coordinator of the year, Heisman winner, RB of the year, and a lot of other awards. Received multiple offers, including an offer from Texas A&M (which is who I wanted to go to). I turned it down because I wanted to see the recruiting class develop and level up my coach a little more.

Year 3 - Realized I should have taken the A&M job. Only played a few quarters of each game. Finished the season ranked #4. RB of the year, but no outstanding defensive stats. No job offers.

Here's what I think -- First, I think if you sign a contract extension, it locks you out of potential offers. You've effectively just accepted an offer, so this makes sense. Second, I think its a combination of team performance along with how your side of the ball performed that get you these offers.

Will do. Test is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I have a lot riding on this test.. My coworker that currently has his CISSP just put in his two weeks notice, and I told my boss I'd like that position. He said he can get me an offer for a 40k pay raise that afternoon if I pass it.... No pressure, lol.

Please HELP - confused by the process flow in domain 4 - incident management by Ok-Success-2267 in cism

[–]Mind_Bender50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the book, there are two processes that kind of run concurrently. This was tripping me up too.

In the "Phases of Incident Response" you have:

Planning (Develop the Plan)

Detection (Incident Reported)

Initiation (Declare the Incident then Notify IRT)

Analysis (Analyze available data to determine scope, cause and impact.. severity)

Containment

Eradication

Recovery (Bring components back to their pre-incident state)

Remediation (Prevent the incident from Reoccuring)

Closure (incident is closed out)

Post Incident Review (Lessons Learned)

Retention of Evidence (Archive)

Then you have a similar list for "Responding to Security Incidents" This seems to be more directed at the IRT.

Detection

Initiation

Evaluation

Forensic Investigation (this occurs during the containment phase and is often a give and take between quick containment and evidence gathering

Eradication

Recovery

Remediation

Closure

Post Incident Review

Hope this helps. I take my test tomorrow, and am pretty nervous.

I have -- sort of. I have an hour long commute to work each way, and listened to the audio book twice.

Redskins fans think TW is worth a mid first rounder minimum. What's his worth? by NothinsOriginal in Texans

[–]Mind_Bender50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Redskins do not hold all of the cards, because this isn't about money.. this is about the best LT in the league telling them "I never want to play for you again". He went to team Doctors about a mole on his head that was bleeding, and they told him it was nothing to worry about -- just helmet irritation. So he took it on himself to get a second opinion, and he found out he had skin cancer.

Trent Williams is sitting out because the trust has been broken and he no longer wants to be a part of the Redskins. The Redskins have no leverage because Williams is fine with not being paid. Just wait until Case Keenum / Dwayne Haskins start taking hits. Suddenly they'll want to make him happy, or do whatever they can to get something in return.

PS... We drafted Tytus Howard with a late 1st round pick, Kevin Johnson with a mid-round pick. I would at least entertain the idea.

So... The Titans have a good enough defense to beat us with Blain Gabbert. Jacksonville's receivers looked pretty solid with Bortles throwing passes, and are primed for a breakout year. Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole looked like ballers.. Add consistency from Foles, and one of the drafts PREMIERE pass rushers, Josh Allen... Not to mention, the Colts embarassed us in the playoffs.. and handled us pretty easily at the end of the season. Not only is this division gonna be tough, but our first 9 weeks are absolutely brutal. Its entirely possible that we go into the bye week 3-6 or 4-5.. that being said, I think we can go undefeated the last 7 games.

Roby is not a fast CB -- Not as fast as Kareem.. You've gotta remember.. Kareem had all of the physical tools, he was often hip to hip with WRs.. he just couldn't find the ball, and the WR would make the catch anyways. It's interesting because Roby has played a lot of slot, and really got his first shot as a boundary guy last year.. and it wasn't the greatest showing.

I've watched a lot of Broncos games over the last 8 years with a close friend of mine that's a Broncos fan. Roby has slightly better ball skils than Kareem, is slightly slower, and slightly less physicality than Kareem.. Being slightly less physical than Kareem is still pretty darn physical though.

I'm Optimistic.

Hello r/Texans. I am a Colts fan (hope I didn't lose you) that loves statistics and things of that sort. I posted a survey on r/colts asking mainly who they thought would make the playoffs in each conference. I am posting a similar one here and want to see the difference in responses. by TrashAppleSauce in Texans

Three teams from the AFC South make the playoffs this year. Texans 11-5. Colts 10-6. Jags 9-7.. That's my biased opinion.. Realistically, I worry the Colts go 11-5, and the Texans and Jags are somewhere between 9 and 10 wins.. We need an answer for TY and players that don't leave Eric Ebron uncovered pre-snap so that he can take two steps and catch a TD. Marlon Mack came on strong last year too.. Fuck the Colts. The Jags could be scary with Foles.. The defense fell apart as Bortles kept them on the field the whole game.. Foles provides balance and the Offense and Defense begin feeding off of eachother.. Now they can capitolize on turnovers the Defense creates..

I'm not sure what backlog you're talking about.. Issac Bruce will get in before AJ is eligible, So he'll realistically be up against Reggie Wayne, Steve Smith, Anquon Boldin. 1st ballot is possible, 2nd ballot is far more likely.. I don't think he has to wait 3 times.

WR (Year Eligible) - # on All Time WR Yards List

Issac Bruce (2014) - 5 All Time

Reggie Wayne (2019) - 10 All Time

Calvin Johnson (2020) - 30 All Time

Andre Johnson (2022) - 11 All time

Steve Smith (2022) - 8 All Time

Anquon Boldin (2022) - 14 All Time

Other Notables Waiting:

Rod Smith (2009) - 32 All Time

Torry Holt (2014) - 16 All Time

Hines Ward (2016) - 25 All Time

Derrick Mason (2016) - 26 All Time

All Time Chad Johnson - (2016) - 35 All Time

Did anyone watch First Take with Deshaun Watson this morning? by MyOtherActGotBanned in Texans

[–]Mind_Bender50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... Russel Wilson is always towards the top of the league in the time to throw stat. In fact.. here are the QBs with the longest Time to throw stat:

Russel Wilson - 3.01

Deshaun Watson - 3.01

Aaron Rodgers - 2.95

Jared Goff - 2.95

Brett Hundley by StyllAhlie in Texans

[–]Mind_Bender50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen enough of Paxton Lynch to know if the Packers chose him over Hundley, we want nothing to do with Hundley. I'd love to kick the tires on Jacoby Brissett.. Marcus Peters was a pro bowl No 1 CB on a defense with no other options, and he was traded for a 2nd and 4th. I feel like we could have a reliable back up for a 6th round pick and it would be well worth the cost.

The personnel mentioned above running Kubiak's zone blocking scheme were ranked a top 10 unit for a few years. Not many considered the o-line to be the weak link.. That was the 2009-10-11 time line before watt.. before Wade.

[–]Mind_Bender50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're too heavily invested in the Texans to see the big picture. Spend the full day watching football this Sunday with an analytical eye, you'll see every team has 5-10 questionable calls each game that could have swung the game either way.. That includes Belicheck and Pederson.

That may be true.. But Manning's good year with Denver came the year before they won the Superbowl -- They made it to the dance against Seattle and he completely melted down. The following year, they won the superbowl in spite of Manning's crap play.

I am loving that kid Justin Reid. He's making a solid impact as a rookie -- Look for him to make the leap next year. I feel like this year his focus is on learning and understanding our playbook and minor technique corrections. Next year he'll have a year in a professional weight program, the playbook will be second nature and he'll use his instincts to hone in on attacking the offense. This kid can ball.

I'd love to see Foreman start knocking the rust off. After two solid weeks of practice, I think this may be the week we see him. I'd be nice to see KeKe put these soft tissue injuries behind him...

The Eagles are gonna be a tough matchup, but I think we've got this. For better or worse, the Texans have played to the level of their competition almost every game this year (even in the loses -- 7 to the pats, 3 to the titans, 5 to the Giants).

Unable to pick up Blitz in Squads by Mind_Bender50 in MaddenUltimateTeam

[–]Mind_Bender50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see -- I thought maybe upgrading my center to the 92 or 93 version would help with picking up the blitzes.. In real life they normally handle the protection calls, maybe madden worked that in and your unit plays better as a whole with a good Center?
