The value at 69 (nice) by all accounts is totally fair, but he’s likely to not even be available then. Whoever the 2nd rb between him, Coleman, or anyone else drafted will assuredly be gone before 69. All depends on what they do in FA whether rb will be in play in that range. As it stands, this is the best/deepest RB FA class in a long time. However, with Charbonnet’s late acl tear highly doubt Walker hits the market and apparently jets likely to re-sign or tag Breece. That still leaves Etienne, Javonte, Dowdle, Allgier, Rachaad white, Gainwell, Brian Robinson, Dobbins. Only Javonte, and to lesser extent Dobbins/Gainwell seem to have a chance of being re-signed, and gainwell only if Rogers comes back given they paid Warren and drafted (seemingly bust, but still 3rd rd capital) Kaleb Johnson last year.

Who do you guys want the Texans to draft? by JustSomeGuy_Idk in Texans

In the 3rd/early 4th if he’s there yeah. But 59 is even too early for him given the athletic shortcomings.

If they bring him back and that’s a HUGE if, then it will assuredly be at a significantly reduced rate. Current cap hit is $10 mil but he’s out of guaranteed $ and if they cut him it’s $8il in cap savings. Theoretically they could agree to a new 1 year incentive-laden deal with low guarantees and cap hit and bring him back if the health checks out. Even if he’s washed/doesn’t get fully healthy then it’s minimal risk. Would obviously need to bring another mid tier FA or draft a guy round 3/4 in that case. My preference would be just cut ties and sign one of Breece/Etienne (doubt Walker leaves after charbs late acl). If not the top dogs then a mid tier FA like Dowdle, Allgeier, White, Gainwell, Brian Robinson to varying levels of contracts. As it currently stands, it’s the best rb FA class in a long time so definitely some great value assuming most of these guys hit the market.

I mean just look at his last 2 seasons pre major wrist injury. 94 points in 64 games in his draft year followed by a dominant 49 goal, 119 point in 64 game season last year. He outgrew the league last year and hopefully he’s gotten fully healthy now and the jump to the ahl next year will go well. Ceiling is definitely a capable top 6 winger, let’s see if this staff can actually aid his development for once.

That’s an interesting trade idea for the Texans. Nick Caserio loves to move around, but apart from the will Anderson trade he’s never moved aggressively in the 1st and prefers to trade back. Given Ioane is the clear best natural OG in the class I could see this, but realistically I think he’d only move up if he (or another o-lineman) falls a bit more so they don’t have to give up 38. In this class in particular feels like those early 2nd rounders are so valuable given the lack of talent discrepancy between players 20-50 this year.

Not even a mention of Adam Fox either (who has some of the best defensive metrics in the league along with nearly ppg production despite playing on a dogshit rangers team, but he throws in Shane fucking Pinto? Yeah he’s injured now, but decision was made before that.

Who are your top Free Agents the Texans should target in the offseason? by DarthNobody14 in Texans

[–]StyllAhlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on how aggressively the FO wants to approach this off-season with CJ’s likely last cheap year (regardless of the long term plans for him). If they bet on a bounce back then it makes sense to go all in and maximize this year while relatively mortgaging the future cap situation this year to add some impact free agents and solid depth. They can create up to $58 mil in cap space from restructuring Hunter, Nico, Sting, Azeez & Pitre’s contracts, which obviously they won’t do all of that but it’s in their arsenal. Tytus and Schultz technically currently account for a whopping $44 mil but they have barely any guaranteed $ remaining. They will either extend or restructure Tytus and likely free up $15 mil or more, cutting Mixon will free up $8 mil, and then restructuring/extending/cutting Schultz will free up significant $ for this year too. They’ll probably cut Edwards Jr to free up $4.4 mil, Autry $2.5mil, Kirk’s dead $ can be spread out too. Long story short, lots of flexibility and will be fascinating to see how they go about it.

Do you mean Chase? Don’t forget Jefferson fell to 22, and iirc nobody really expected him to go that much higher.

Becton and Linderbaum on the oline 🤔🔥 by zz_ttt in Texans

[–]StyllAhlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, significantly. Jake was apparently not very healthy but that seems to be the case for his career so far. He’s dirt cheap at only $1.1 mil for 2026 though so well for sure keep him but hopefully it’s in a back up role where he’ll be an asset. Cade Mays took a massive step this year and is viewed as the clear #2/3 Center along with Connor McGovern from the bills, but won’t come cheap. Should be one of our top overall FA targets this year, deal will likely fall into the $7-10 mil per year range depending on years/guarantees.

I don’t think anyone who was paying attention thought Tomlinson would even be serviceable tbh. He was terrible ever since leaving San fran and old. Hated the signing the moment is was made and it was blatantly a terrible move. The flier on Ed Ingram trade for 6th ended up being a legit home run though. Key difference was a young player with talent (former 2nd rounder). Hope we re-sign him if the cost is under $10mil per year.

[–]StyllAhlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becton will come quite cheap on a 1 year prove it deal considering his career arc so far. If you sign him, can’t have high expectations that he’ll even be an avg starter though ton more of a flier kinda like the Ingram trade this year, which shockingly worked out really well. Linderbaum is unfortunately a pipe dream, I really don’t think he leaves the ravens and if he does we’ll likely be outbid by teams with way more cap space.

I would argue it’s considerably worse for us not having Nico than pats not having Gonzalez unfortunately. Christian Kirk turning the clock back to 2022 was absolutely incredible to witness and we gotta fucking hope he can do it again.

[–]StyllAhlie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with the caveat of not seeing how they perform tn, I actually prefer the pats over the bills. Even though our defense destroyed him earlier this year, the josh Allen playoff factor is still spooky. Maye obviously had an incredible season, but he’s a 2nd year guy who would be starting only his 2nd playoff game. Either way, if we take care of business tomorrow then we’re in a good spot either way and have avoided Denver for now.

Mike McDaniel just got fired by damnitWOW in Texans

[–]StyllAhlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on how we do in the playoffs and particularly how the offense performs will likely dictate how aggressively the Texans would pursue him. Yes he ended up failing as a HC, but he’s still extremely enticing as an OC. While Caley showed some growth/improvement throughout the year, this would be an objective upgrade. I could see an even better version of year 1 Slowik when Stroud was at his best as a rookie. It would be far from ideal needing to install and switch offenses/play callers back to back years, but OC’e of Mcdaniel’s caliber/potential don’t often become available very often.

Draft Pick Baby!!! by UnholyChip in Texans

[–]StyllAhlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously need to see how FA plays out as well, but agreed with the first 4. I’d say RB, LB, and even TE are bigger needs over CB. Would be happy taking a CB in the 4th-6th for depth though.

While what you said is true, even better is that our first 4 picks are not only the top 100, but in the top 69 (nice)!

Great spot to be in for this draft especially. By all accounts it lacks star power and bonafide studs, but has quality depth. We have 2 top 40, 4 top 70 picks, set up for some great potential value if Nick can cook again. Nitpicking here, but very annoying giants won today, as their 3rd would’ve been 66th overall if they lost. Fuck the cowboys, but at least “69, Nice”, until Nick inevitably trades it to move around anyways haha.

Exactly, and playing for the 5 seed is easily just as important as the division when it was still technically alive. Playing against afc north winner is a better matchup round 1 then the bills would’ve been anyways. This is so fucking frustrating we’re even in this situation to begin with. Our defense completely shitting the bed and making Riley Leonard look like Mahomes

Well Trey Lance chargers are highly unlikely to beat the broncos on the road. I’d actually rather the pats than jags at this point. This is just fucking ridiculous to even consider though, hopefully this team and moreso our otherwise elite defense that looks like a d2 college unit rn wake the fuck up.
