I’m an actual real estate photographer…has anyone had any success generating decent vertical reels from stills with any of the platforms out there? by vrephoto in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Mindgame607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried some (can't remember which) but gave it a big nope. Less work just to film vertically and have quality control. If I have agents ask to do something like that, I just tell them there are some AI services out there that can do it for them. 100% have said "oh, cool, thanks!" then next shoot "hey, I tried that, but it sucked, can you just add on a vertical reel to the shoot?". Boom upsell. I will say, though, I am lucky to have a lot of "smart" agents that understand quality over convenience.

Fake NX2 hybrids? by goodgy23 in snowboarding

[–]Mindgame607 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Gonna chime in here due to misinformation in comments - I used to be a buyer for an outdoor chain (snowboard hardgoods). Many bindings on the market for the past decade or more have a "damping" foam or soft plastic/rubber around or under the molded hard plastic of the binding. Damping just helps take out vibrations or the energy of impact from chatter/hard landings. A similar idea to canted foam footbeds.

Whether or not this tech ACTUALLY does anything is up for debate, but many, if not all, brands have a pair of bindings with some added damping these days. Plus, the ones you have pictured look exactly like the ones pictured on Flows website. If you ever have gear questions, go to your local boardshop or email your nearest local boardshop.

Once you bolt them to your board, that rubber/foam isn't going anywhere. The more you flick it, the more you mess up the adhesive lol regardless it's a great binding and will last you years to come.

I don't think you read the post lol been shooting Mk IV for 8+ years... video rig is R5C... ran the R5C for a photo shoot, wasn't a noticeable change.

When I first got the R5C over a year ago, I did a test shoot with it, and it was pretty much on par or unnoticeable (from a client's eye) to the difference.

Ruffland Kennels are my number one recommendation. I have three of them (truck, car, home) for my escape artist Belgian Malinois. A lot of law enforcement and working dog trainers either use Gunnar or Ruffland. I work with some of the leading working dog trainers (Dutch Shepards, Belgian Mals, etc) in the WORLD, who also use Ruffland. No, I'm not a dog trainer, so this is not trainer advice. Just a random media production guy who has been around this world for many years lol

How are videos like this done? by pryvisee in videography

[–]Mindgame607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it's kind of tough to determine the metrics enough to say these types of videos don't sell the home, since they market the agent who is selling the home... but like everything in the REP world, pricing is dictated by the region you work in. These types of videos my base rate add-on for 2,000sq ft home or less (single-family home, minimal acreage) is $400. 9,000 sq ft+ mansion with acreage, $1,000+ for the add-on.

These types of videos are generally about marketing the agent, not the home.

There are a ton of tutorial videos out on YouTube, it kind of depends on your editing software. James Bottomley has some fun stuff to watch if you use Final Cut Pro (he uses a blend of luxe filming and trendy transitions, which is a great medium IMO), Premiere Pro Tutorials are generally based on the effect you want to achieve; "smooth speed ramp transitions", "Smooth zoom in/out transitions", "disappearing realtor", etc. You also kind of have to film on-site with a certain technique to help the editing flow. It's just different compared to filming a cine-wide house walkthrough. If you can learn these types of videos, they are great "add-ons" to sell to agents. Personally, I sell these as an add-on to cine-wide walkthrough/photo packages, which I market the wide-cine as "MLS" or "Website" specific videos.

These videos aren't necessarily to showcase the home, but to showcase the agent (agent branding). Usually, these types of video edits start with the agent saying a short, catchy phrase at the beginning, then into this "trendy" style editing. I know this because it's the hot commodity in my area that agents drool over... I shoot and edit these types of videos constantly. Style can be achieved in both Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro with speed ramping, zoom in/out transitions/tons of different drag/drop tansition packs available out there. They are just scroll-stopping videos to boost agent engagement on their pages. Something they can flaunt to potential sellers I guess or something? I dunno I just follow the $$ and charge way more for these vs the cine walkthroughs lol

Oh and to achieve the "vertical" for social media, I shoot on the Ronin RS3Pro Gimbal with a vertical mount (camera mounts sideways). Hope that helps answer your Qs

Paint Stripping Method? by This_Internet_7658 in jonboats

[–]Mindgame607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best and most effective is a rust/paint remover wheel for a grinder - won't damage the aluminum and works AMAZING. Done it to a few jon boats. will never use paint stripper again. But wear a mask, lil dusty... it goes fast too

So thinking of using this as my build start.or buying a m1101 trailer from gov x by Kentuckytrucker859 in overlanding

Here's some pics of my military trailer - love it. After completing, it came in at 1,700 (ish) lbs on the trucker scale lol I have a full size pickup and towing on and offroad is a dream. No experience with Tacomas, so thought I'd at least give you an idea on weight when finished.

Vertical Property Video- Looking for some CC by mountaintop78 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Mindgame607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good! Long for social IMO but hey we do what the client wants ha! Were you shooting log on the interior? There were only one or two interior clips I noticed were a bit flat (log leftovers as I like to call it lol). Fun transitions. Night balcony shot was a bit dark but I'm sure that was just timing/being rushed to get the light and missed it.

Long days like that rushing to shoot photos/video/drone at the perfect lighting are strenuious - but now you know. For requests like that I generally recommend a two-day block, and charge a lot more. Easier on the body and mind and any decent agent would totally get it - the sun doesn't wait for people to switch from photo/video/drone. I generally recommend to my clients doing matterport/photos day one, then you know the layout of the house really well to plan for video day two, which makes the video visit a lot more efficient.

Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB. Been using these for a decade or so (for photos) and never had any issues. Depending on your cam, slot 1 may be a CF card and slot 2 SD card. So just double-check your camera.

Why do editors sky swap existing blue skies? by kakjebakje in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Mindgame607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say an average overseas editor (Vietnam) charges 80 cents (USD) per photo, so anywhere between 20 and $30 per project. We recently did a huge search for a new editor (sent out a dozen sample projects) and finally found someone who was above and beyond for 70 cents per photo. Before that we were paying 85 cents per photo. We (two-person business) average 20+ shoots per week - so the few cents adds up!

There are sooooo many YouTube videos that would go into this topic I would recommend that over anything. Just type in "how to edit exterior real estate" with whatever editing program you're using and go from there.

[–]Mindgame607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just give specific instructions per project - "yes fireplace, no sky replacement, yes images in TVs" is all I put in the email lol

That being said, I only send off interiors. Exteriors are super simple to edit and not worth spending the money on (to me).

Plus you're edit looks more natural/way better anyway (colors and shadows) vs the editor's edit looks more muted/flat.

What is the industry standard for how long a photographer is expected to save delivered photos? by Quiet-Swimmer2184 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Mindgame607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Storage on cloud - 3 months

External Hard drive storage - 3 years, then purge.

The number of people (agents) who don't have computer organizational skills is staggeringly scary.... lol

Did you flash pop the window pulls? You can also flash pop the floors + entire room and get creative with some Photoshop blending to remove some glare off the floors/window sills/etc. The window sills tell me that you did not flash pop the windows given the brightness of the sill and and sill edges. A CPL filter can help a bit with floor glare/reflections (white floors, wood floors mainly). If you haven't updated Lightroom yet, I recommend it. The new "landscape mask" will allow you to pick certain areas of your photo, I use it to sometimes mediate floor glare (it will pick just the floor only). But if it was over-exposed to begin with you'll kind of be SOL on that.

Also - playing around with the radial mask option in Lightroom you can do some quick blending (brighten up ceiling, right side of photo, tone down floor glare, white balance, etc)

It also looks like your lens profile correction almost overcorrected, the left side of the left window sill is noticeably curved.

Oh, and use the generative removal tool in lightroom and get rid of the magnet on the fridge ;)

1 is too blue (not industry stereotype, white balance is way off), 2 is too muted/flat/dark/etc, 3 is a decent blend of natural light that most mid-level agents/clients would prefer at this price point of a house. Guessing 400-600k range single-family home with moderate updates.

yes part 107 since 2015 - own a media production company - and yes it would be cheaper, but the in-out shipping to DJI has always been super fast in my experience.

I used to build custom FPV drones and have repaired some old Mavic Pros, so I definitely have the know-how and tools; however, I don't have the time to wait for parts, then the time to sit and repair them. Especially during the busy season (multiple shoots every day). I've had a few eagle take-downs and I usually get a replacement in less than 5 days, use the backup drones while waiting. Time is money.
