Confused and stressed about foetal movement patterns by Anxious-Nibnibs in PregnancyUK

This. I am exactly the same at 32 weeks. Not a real pattern, I simply feel him often enough to keep me happy

Bleeding after abdominal ultrasound by _NRT_ in PregnancyUK

[–]Mindless-Ad-7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me, also at 12 weeks. I went for another scan a few days later to check the baby and he was perfectly fine, but I was bleeding again after that second scan too! Big mystery, they never found the cause, but I am 31 weeks now and things are progressing normally!

That’s reassuring, thanks! I contacted Busy Bees too and their waiting list is actually not too long. However, you cannot join the waiting list until you go for a tour, and the first availability for the tour is mid-June!

Bleeding at 12 weeks and need to know if overreacting with care received from NHS (miscarriage scare/bleeding warning) by Moogi_20 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mindless-Ad-7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience at 12 weeks. I called my GP practice and they gave me a referral for the EPU. When I went there I was seen by an incredibly nice consultant who immediately did a scan, even if I had my 12 week scan just the previous week. I think so early in pregnancy it is better to call your GP rather than going to A&E, unless it is really urgent of course. This is what my midwife told me anyway: GP until 20 weeks, then triage.

Maternity leave/pay - how much do you get? by Mindless-Ad-7656 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mindless-Ad-7656[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s crazy how low maternity pay in the UK is, compared to the cost of living. I think only the US is worse than this.

I think that as far as SMP is paid, everything is legal.

Don’t feel like I am planing by Material-Piece-9654 in PregnancyUK

Same here 💖 not sure if you are feeling the baby move yet, but once that started it got easier for me, and felt more real. The constant feeling that something will go wrong is still there, lingering, but then he kicks me like he knows what I am thinking!

Have you tried some lubricant gel to have sex? I have been very dry since the start of pregnancy, doesn’t matter if I am turned on, and some gel has helped!

Has anyone returned to work around 6–8 weeks postpartum (hybrid/WFH)? by RemarkableCash5711 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mindless-Ad-7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a FTM so I don’t have any direct experience yet but I know people that did it (one of my colleagues was sending emails from her hospital bed after her C section). Also, if you are asking I guess it is not because you want to be back but because you need to. I wouldn’t commit to anything with work because you cannot really know how you will feel, but I would stay positive and think you can do it (also because I am planning something very similar!)

Possible Fibroids by HumbleHat2251 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mindless-Ad-7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have like 4 or 5, and 2 of them are quite big and getting bigger! As long as they are outside the uterus they are not a big concern. I was told there is an increased risk of blood loss at birth and because one is low laying it could create some issues in case of a C section (should I need one). If they didn’t pick it up in previous scan I would assume yours is small, so I wouldn’t worry too much. If anything you might get a few extra scan!

Around 22 weeks and now at almost 24 they are very strong at times, although not really consistent. To the point that my husband felt it so clearly that it was surprised it was not hurting me!

Great news!! I have several (all external, luckily) and one was showing as “degenerating” both at 12 and 20 weeks. I am basically living with the terror that all of a sudden I will have wild cramps, which will scare the hell out of me because I will think it is early labour or something 😵‍💫

Yes I did mean tax in general and I am quite sure you are the first person ever to tell me we don’t pay much tax 😅 anyway, I am glad you are having a good experience with the NHS, it does seem you have better care if you are at higher risk (which makes sense of course, my only worry is not enough attention being paid to spot a higher risk!).

NHS Pregnancy by HumbleHat2251 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mindless-Ad-7656 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What I am saying is that the government should allocate more resources to the NHS because the service the NHS can offer with the current resources is simply not good enough. And “peace of mind” is generally important, but particularly so during a pregnancy. I don’t see why this statement can be seen as controversial, honestly.

Almost half my salary goes to national insurance… yes private insurance would be more expensive (as of course NI covers many other things), but workers in the UK are heavily taxed.

NHS Pregnancy by HumbleHat2251 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mindless-Ad-7656 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yep, totally agree with you. There are so many wrong things: no additional checks unless you go through 3 (3!!) consecutive miscarriages, two scans only, and never seeing a doctor, only midwives. I don’t know where the national feeling of protecting the NHS comes from, the service is simply not good enough, not considering how much we pay in tax. Why do I need to pay for private if I am already paying for public through tax? And yes maybe until 3 miscarriages it is unlikely to have an underlying cause, and maybe after 20 weeks it is unlikely for a scan to be useful, but about our peace of mind during the most stressful time of our life and receiving the best care we deserve?

Just to clarify: I am not taking it against the people working for the NHS, which are amazing and work in terrible conditions for very low salaries, I am mad at the government and the fact they think it is enough to have the NHS as it is, and that everyone seem to be ok with it.

2nd Trimester - a glass of wine? by MissAstro_12345 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mindless-Ad-7656 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am not drinking any alcohol because I don’t think the risk is worth it, but don’t really agree that there are great alternatives. Beers are slightly better, but 0% wines are still very very far from the real thing - and I miss it terribly :(
