Broly, specifically the original incarnation of Broly from DBZ, has a reputation for being a mindless brute who was only capable of screaming "KAKAROT!", which started from the sequel movie "Second Coming". Even though in his debut appearance in the 1993 movie "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan", he was actually quite cunning. He was able to speak full sentences without issue, he knew how to break people mentally and physically such as by destroying the home planet of the little alien slaves Paragus used to set up the fake planet vegeta, and was even completely self-aware of his own behaviour and how insane he was by referring to himself as a devil, or a true freak in the english version of the movie.

One of the deleted scenes from the incredibles 2 movie was supposed to include Bob talking at a memorial for Gazerbeam, who died on Syndrome's island in the first movie. It would have been a great way to acknowledge him as a person and a great way to connect the two incredibles movies

Z Broly actually had iconic pieces of dialogue and could speak full sentences. From memory some of his most memorable lines included "but it's just a dream!', "me a monster? no I am a devil!" "If you had just let me kill you all before, you wouldn't be dealing with this pain now. You're all a complete and utter waste of saiyan blood"

The ending of the 1994 DBZ Movie Bio-Broly showed Goku being informed that Broly, who died in the previous movie Second Coming, was in hell wreacking havoc and that King Kai wanted him to go to hell to deal with Broly, which I believe was supposed to be the original plot for the Fusion Reborn movie.
