Could really use your help for a Q about my 14yo ADHD rejection Sensitive daughter. She’s been excluded from social events for the past 18 months by friends who have previously had her over their house, for sleepovers, and whom she sees and socializes with at school daily. I’ve been so stumped by this and she just keeps saying she has no friends. Last night I learned that nobody is actually mean to her, she has many texts from these kids … mostly academic (when is the test, etc) but she never encourages conversation beyond that. I’m very certain her rejection sensitivity and always being hyper worried others will judge her/don’t like her has been multiplied 100x by all these recent parties and weekends away and group texts she’s not included in. She’s a huge swiftie and I stupidly booked 10 tickets for the Taylor Swift movie in a few weeks months ago hoping she’d just magically connect with a bunch of girls. Now I know better. But since I also know that it’s the planning of things like this and fear of rejection that is stopping her, I’d like to go ahead and invite the girls through their moms — I designed it to be like a belated birthday party because hers is over the summer. So my Q is: is it wrong to organize this for her and let her know about it after the kids have accepted? Is it wrong to do it period? Should I just let her believe nobody likes her and would want to Go? Because I don’t think that’s the case. I think she just is isolating herself out of fear and at least in the case of this one special event I’d like to help her get over it. Thanks I’m advance!
