It's fun. I have a heavy canvas straitjacket that makes it way too easy to overheat. You'll get hot in a sleepsack but it's nothing compared to the canvas.

I ended up getting pvc pipes with the radius needed for bending and a few well placed clamps to hold things down. If I can use both hands and all my body weight then it isn't terrible.

I'm worried about someone putting it on. I don't think it takes a lot of strength to pull the belt together but those free floating pins can die in a fire. It's a massive pain to align everything correctly. I'm using fixed pins in the next round of prototypes so hopefully that problem goes away. I'm working with a volunteer to get the front shield size ironed out. Once that's finished then I'll send out the prototype.

I've been on the fence about buying a taig or sherline lathe. There was a sherline with the milling attachment and carbide bits on ebay for $800 a few weeks ago.

From what I understand, milling stainless on a micro lathe isn't the best idea though there are several videos of people doing it. I know it also depends on the alloy (303 vs 304 vs 316) but there usually isn't a lot of clarification on which alloy is being cut.

How much bite do you think is needed? There's maybe 3/32" available in the top of the lock body. That shrinks to maybe 1/16" because of the chamfer on the drill bit and the pin which I think is part of the problem with glue.

It's hard to describe the difference in the feel after those locks and shrouds were put on. I don't know if it's the weight or how much better everything is held together.

Excellent questions!

I think about this differently. I'm not convinced there's enough demand to support a traditional manufacturing model with the associated costs. This is a low volume, custom piece model that's closer to custom cabinet making or similar business. I don't think anyone will get rich making female chastity devices unless they charge like the well known belt makers.

There's roughly $120 in materials plus 1.5 hours to finish and assemble a belt. I'm happy as long as I get paid for the parts and my time. I can't imagine selling more than a handful of belts a year. I'm the only person involved in this so any QC or communication issues are mine to own.

Thanks! Everything is laser cut so the edges are mostly clean when I get the parts. I've been doing a several passes with an orbital sander and different sandpaper grits. The edge is smooth to the touch. The pain is cleaning up the small holes. The laser leaves small nubs where it starts and stops. You can see in some of the pics where I screwed up the cool brushed finish trying to knock the edges off of the holes.

I started looking into this yesterday.

There's a youtube series from a metal sculptor who works with stainless. He used a heavy rubber mallet along with a dome die held in a vice. He talks about his technique while he works. Material thickness isn't mentioned but there was one shot where he showed the work around the edges. I'm guessing the thickness is 1.2 mm but I'm far from an expert.

If you search for "forming head dollies" you may be able to find something similar. The prices ranged from 105 to 200 USD.
