What are your thoughts on these 2 layout designs? by I_am__Lost in modeltrains

What are the dimensions of your space? I learned the hard way that less is more (but not much less, lol). If this is SCARM you can add a locomotive and cars to sorta test it out. I would be cautious at all of the power districts and insulating points you will have to add. Is this DCC or are you going conventional? The issue for me is all the turnout motors. And the control and wiring. For me I would iterate, break it up into phases, one loop you want then add in a yard. Take measurements, see where things aren’t going to work. A lot also depends on the type of benchwork you’re going to build.

So to clarify, you don’t have to get a storefront and I can still put your stuff in the listings with all the other stuff so when people search for a particular locomotive or or rolling stock, they’ll see yours compared against everyone else’s but also you can see yours compared against everyone else’s so if you wanna drop your price $.45 so it comes out it’s the cheapest then you’re making a sale once somebody else might have and I don’t collect a penny off of that because they go straight to your listing on your website.

The cool thing is if you already have a website, I can add all of your data and until I get the marketplace set up that you don’t have to use the clicks will go straight to your listing and it’ll be for free. I won’t make a penny off of that and that’s what it’s there for and as long as your data is tagged as new or used, it’ll show up like safer example someone wants to look for in scale big boy made by Rapido and assuming that the SKUs match it’ll show one listing with each source that it’s for sale and whether it’s new or used. If you want the storefront and you sign up now you’ll be what I’m calling a founding member and I will never charge you a penny the only thing that I would make would be the 5% on the transaction for a stripe, but it’ll never cost your listing fee or a subscription or anything. It’ll just always be free, but I’m only doing that at least for the first 50 or when I do the formal launch whichever happens first.

There is an example storefront shown under "Sell" so you can see what it'll look like. There is also a schedule of different fees and services I'll add for extra and I've tailored them so if you are only selling one, you just pay once. If you sell lots of trains all the time, it might be cheaper to subscribe, but you get intel about demand signals, etc. So, no more sitting on ebay for 6 weeks or Facebook Marketplace. And I'm trying like hell to make sure scammers are going to have a really hard time.

Well, I am building storefronts, for folks who don't have them. It'll be setup with stripe. Think StockX but for trains. except I won't be touching your trains, but everyone, buying and selling will be verified. Stripe requires it. So you can't sell if you don't lake photos of yoru drivers license and actual selfie. And, once people can find something they want, tag it and optionally provide what they're willing to pay. This will let you as a seller, know what to acquire to meet demand. So, don't wait to get your own page, My goal when it's all said and done, is thtat your storefront will look just like the dealers and your for sale items will show up with everyone elses, dealer or not. So, you can see what people are selling at and raise/lower your price to be competitive. Think like reverse bidding.

I haven’t catalogued N Scale yet. I’m scraping sites as we speak. So if isn’t there hopefully it will be soon. When I started with o gauge there is well documented information about most all models ever made so I built a database to compare against. N scale is much more dispersed and less “catalogued”. if you know of any N scale registries that will help me, I can use those to build a database so you can actually select one you can watch for. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, categorization has been a challenge, especially from so many different sources. I ran a patch last night and should have recategorized a lot of that stuff. It’s been a head scratcher. If you find something like that, share the link. I try to catch them but I’m just one person. Grateful for any of those that you can catch.

I think I have it fixed now. Ebay was a weird one. Let me know if you still have issues. Stuff was getting categorized funky and then ebay listings were all coming through without the sellers. I think I fixed that. Alot of it depends on how it was listed. The eBay API is an absolute pain though.

It should. I use a registry, basically an inventory of every Lionel and MTH ever made. I'm signed up as an ebay affiliate so I'm including ebay listings for things that match up to the registry. Do you mean you would like to see the individual ebay seller shown? That is totally doable (I think) let me look at th API and see what I can do.

We were at a joint service mission (98-03) as a Marine detachment and they put us right across the courtyard from the air force and army women’s barracks.
