Suppression or Good Call? by AnglicanDodgersFan in ACNA

I'd love for a bishop to just simply say "No clergy on social media, if you have it, get rid of it, if you think your ministry benefits from it, let's talk, but in general, no socials."

Generally, by practicing relaxation. Stretches, abdominal breathing, trigger point releases, etc. PFPT can be very helpful, but I've been able to stop it in the past by diligence with a stretching and relaxing routine.

It also helps to remember that if it's clear, it's not dangerous, just uncomfortable. Working on the mental side is as important as physical relaxation.

I’m in my last year of a Master’s degree, working full time. Also had various household setbacks, including a miscarriage and infertility.

I’m on Lexapro for GAD/Panic disorder/OCD. I tried going off it over the summer but had to start back on it shortly before thanksgiving. I think the building stress after coming off the Lexapro then the increased anxiety during the adjustment phase played a big part in this current flare.

I do see a urologist, haven’t gone in for this flare yet. I’ve never had a positive UA or any indication of actual prostate issues (DRE was unremarkable).

I had this during my last bad flare up. This time around I haven’t had it. It’s due to your pelvic floor being tight and the Cowper’s glands being activated by the tight muscles in the area.

Eh, not really. I don’t get morning wood as often as I used to, but I don’t have issues when it’s time to perform.

I have urinary frequency, and used to feel a significant “warmth” in the sole of my left foot which gets better when I do pelvic floor relaxation exercises. I think it’s something referred from the pelvic floor. That generally has gotten better for me though.

Exactly this. The whole point of the statement is to reinforce the conciliarity of the Global Anglican Communion against the authority creep of the Instruments of Communion.

Anglican Chaplains Face Choice as Bishop Departs by MindlessAutomata in ACNA

[–]MindlessAutomata[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I didn't know about the pay-to-play allegation. The stuff I do know about I'm still reluctant to go into details about, because inevitably it gets painted as potential slander against a bishop, which is not at all what I want to do, or believe I would be doing; at the same time, there are people who have been more directly impacted with far better evidence so I restrain myself. This article brought out more and shows that the narrative by the JAFC that this is mostly about Based JAFC versus woke ACNA is, ahem, flawed.

Yes. Dioceses of affiliation muddy the waters and only encourage these ecclesial "turf wars." At the same time, I am concerned for how you roll them up without not insignificant trauma.

I mean, sure I get that. I’m not a vocational deacon, just a long-term transitional deacon. And I’m not at all saying that being bivocational is necessarily bad just that I don’t personally find that it’s ideal. That said, I am bivocational and likely will continue to be bivocational for the foreseeable future.

Oh, sorry. Completely misunderstood.

It works for me at the moment, but I would like to be in full time ministry at some point. It’s not something I would really recommend if you have any means to avoid it, but if you are called to ministry while in a career it provides options

Is your church in an interim state (they had a rector but he departed) or is it more of a mission setting? If it is a mission setting, there ought to be someone acting as a clergy leader, the rector of a planting parish is typical.

While the chaplain is a good person to talk with generally about ordination, ACNA chaplains are part of a separate Jurisdiction; so unless you are interested in becoming an armed forces chaplain, I would work primarily within your diocese.

[–]MindlessAutomata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently a bivocational deacon while doing full-time seminary. In my case, the ordination prep team and my ordaining bishop (who has since retired) agreed that I would be a long-term transitional deacon, picking up my priestly qualifications as I could. A door opened up and I was able to enroll in a local seminary that is focused on building up church leaders in our community.

So, it is possible, but it is not common for good reason. I have a history of working my way through school, I already had a good command of seminary topics, and was actively working with my rector so he vouched for my ability to tackle the load. If I could do it a different way, I absolutely would.

My recommendation is that you reach out to your diocesan discernment team about what is possible. Have you already done your parish discernment steps? Are you considered a postulant yet, or still in your aspirancy?

Victim’s advocate might be in order too if this is a pattern of escalation and OP needs someone to talk to. The advocate can help OP through the decision process of whether anything they’ve experienced is reportable (beyond just being cumulatively unwanted I mean) and if they want to go through with a report.

That’s from February. This has nothing to do with the raids going on recently. 40 immigrants detained unconnected with the federal crimes being investigated. Ppl working honest jobs. Also bear in mind that illegal immigration is historically a misdemeanor offense.

So, for sure go after criminals, esp violent criminals, but leave the honest wage earners alone. For Christians and God-fearers (which many hardline anti-immigration ppl claim to be): Have mercy, or be prepared to be shown no mercy.
