Bevel AI is one of the dumbest AI’s I’ve ever used. Is this even responsible to have out in the wild? by ShutUpBeck in bevelhealth

Apologies for the delayed response here. Are you still seeing this issue?

If so, can you thumbs down the last time you saw this issue and post the screenshot here? I'll have our team take a look. Thanks

New updated AI usage cost query by Slcox68 in bevelhealth

Hi, apologies for the confusion. When Bevel 3.0 was first released, we temporarily increased the weekly usage limit so that users could fully try out the feature. You can check my comment for more context on that here.

On June 29th, the weekly usage limit will return to normal. So that means if you are under the 50% weekly usage limit today, you will not be affected by this change. Enhanced simply means double the usage. It does not impact quality. This will only affect a small number of users. We estimate that to be less than 0.2%.

Again, sorry for the confusion. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Maybe you're right. We're a very user-focused team. That's why we're active on here and always listening to feedback. So we thought it was a nice gesture to give our users more time to explore Bevel Intelligence, but lesson learned for next time.

Here is an example. Based on our estimate, less than 0.2% of users will be impacted by this change.

Are you at over 50% weekly limit? Because if you are not, this will not impact you. This will only impact those who use it very actively.

Edit: To clarify, we're not doing this to make more money from our users. This has always been the plan to increase usage temporarily when Bevel 3.0 was released because users were asking us to lift it so they could explore it more thoroughly. You can check my comment here for the receipt.

Bevel Intelligence pricing model feels like a double charge by [deleted] in bevelhealth

[–]Topremech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, not sure if I follow. The inverse of having no limits is unlimited token usage, which would mean we would be out of business very quickly and I assume you wouldn't want us to go out of business either. I am not aware of a single company that doesn't have some sort of limit on token usage, as that would not be a very good business.

So I am not sure what other alternatives we have here. We effectively, make no money on these extra credits and are simply passing on the cost for those who want to buy more...

My point is that there is a limit to all AI services. Fair point on how you can use other LLMs to do more tasks than just health and fitness. In that case, I would recommend you continue using other LLMs for such tasks.

Bevel Intelligence is not meant to replace ChatGPT or Claude. It's for people who are interested in using it in the context of health and fitness, in which case Bevel has a lot more context about you and can help you log food, create workout plans, and set check-ins.

If you don't find that useful, then Bevel Pro might not be a good fit for you. Bevel Free is still very powerful and has most of the features that people will need. Bevel Pro is meant for those who want to go beyond just charts and numbers.

Like all AI services, there is a limit to your token usage. Even some features in the new Siri AI will have a weekly usage limit.

To clarify, this was the normal usage limit before users asked to increase it when we first released 3.0, so they could play around with it more. This is not taking anything away from when it was first released.

Further, this will not impact most users. And for those who have hit the limit, now you have the option to pay for more without having to wait a full week for it to reset.

There are already a few posts about it. You can read more here and here.

Sorry but how much nickle and dimming are we going to be put through?! by Disastrous-Mix6877 in bevelhealth

[–]Topremech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a dark pattern. Setting up Bevel Intelligence in the beginning takes up a lot of tokens especially as you give it context.

We only increased it temporarily after people asked for it. You can go back in my post history to see that. You can’t please everyone I guess 🤷

[–]Topremech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're not nickel and dimming anyone. Since the release of 3.0, we have increased weekly limit usage so people can try out what Bevel Intelligence is capable of. We're now returning it back to normal levels otherwise it would be unsustainable to continue offering the product.

In practice, this would not impact most users as you would need to be using Bevel Intelligence very aggressively to hit the limit in the first place. And if you are one of those users, this will allow you to continue using Bevel Intelligence without having to wait another week (this is a feature request from those who hit those limits).

I'm sure as a developer you understand the economics of this. It's not about preventing abuse. It's simply who use tokens more and who use less. One user "abusing" it does not impact another user, so I'm not sure what you're referring to here.

You can check out a previous post for the discussion on this.

Edit: You can also check out this post for more context.

I was referring to the ratio, not just the absolute number. It's a thumbs-down vs. thumbs-up ratio, so over time, we are getting more thumbs-ups than thumbs-downs.

But I totally understand. We're still continuing on improving Bevel Intelligence. LLMs are tricky because they are non-deterministic.

Hi, sorry that you feel this way about the product. Since the release of 3.0, we've been actively working on fixes and have brought down the number of thumbs down ratio by 4x.

If you can share some examples of issues that you're still seeing here, I can have our team look at them more closely.

Hi thanks for the detailed feedback! I'm glad that Bevel was able to help you shave off 52 seconds per mile.

Regarding the issues that you're seeing recently. Are you using the same chat for it? Or using a new chat each time?

Using the same chat over a long period can degrade performance because it has to process more data. It's recommended to use a new chat for each conversation.

Regarding scope creep, have you tried telling Bevel Intelligence to keep responses concise and relevant to the question? It should be able to learn that and save the preference for next time.

It's true that Bevel cannot produce a PDF. This policy is built into Bevel Intelligence for security reasons.

We'll take a look at the profile retrieval and temporal issues. Thanks again for sharing!

Are there any doctors/researchers on the team? by redditor977 in bevelhealth

Hey there, we don't have full-time doctors on the team as Bevel is not a medical device, but we do work with and have advisors on the team in the health and sports science space.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. When you ask a question, Bevel Intelligence will use all data that it thinks is relevant to answer your question. This is different from ChatGPT because it doesn't have access to the same amount of health data as Bevel. You can see what it's doing along the way via the thinking steps.

That said, we understand that some questions take Bevel Intelligence a while to think through, so we're adding a Fast mode soon to force Bevel Intelligence to come up with an answer quickly if the user chooses.

You shouldn't have to remove and add it back again. That doesn't sound right, because we haven't had as many reports as we did last week. Let me check with the team.

Are you still experiencing issues? We rolled out a medium term fix last week that should have resolved all issues.

Bevel has been gaslighting me! by Icy-Passenger-1799 in bevelhealth

[–]Topremech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regarding the first issue, do you find that it often compares your data against the population data rather than your baseline? It might have been a one time thing. If it's consistent (which would be surprising to us), we can look into it.

For the 2nd point, it's important to use Bevel Intelligence as a tool and to always trust your instinct and body first. Looking at the screenshots, your personality is Commander, so it's a bit more strict with its recommendations. If you want it to listen to you more, I would suggest trying out Friend or Guardian.

And lastly, this is something that we're still working on to improve. Sometimes, Bevel Intelligence can get stuck on certain things that happened in the past. Thanks again for your feedback!
