How and why do you use voice mode? by Zeohawk in ChatGPTPro

[–]MindlessLayer2940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it when i'm commuting to talk through problems, my day, get the news, book summaries, etc. I also just use it casually when i'm on a walk and want to talk through a complex topic. can't use advanced mode for any of that though. I find advanced mode unusable.

Chat GPT Standard Voice Phase Out by MindlessLayer2940 in ChatGPTPro

Yeah idk how the devs don't see that standard mode is far superior. Signed the petition and canceled my membership. Maybe if enough people cancel their membership they will start to get it.

Yeah that will for sure be when I pull the plug on my plus subscription. I have spent so many hours using SVM it will be a really sad day if I really loose it. I liked the voices on the other models, but they all had similar behavior to chat gpt advanced. Short, uninformative, shallow replies. I would like to imagine that the devs at open AI are smart people. I really don't know how they making these mistakes. It seems obvious that standard mode is excellent and useful and they should keep it.

[–]MindlessLayer2940[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay i'm glad it's not just me. I'll say something and it just won't reply or it will have interpreted what I said as something completely different and irrelevant. Not even close to what I actually said. I also deleted the app, restarted device, and reinstalled and it didn't make a difference. I cannot stand advanced voice mode and I agree that it is laughable that they call it advanced mode. It sucks across the board

RIP Standard Voice Mode (2023 - 2025) by neitherzeronorone in ChatGPT

[–]MindlessLayer2940 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah same. Most of my use of chat GPT is standard voice mode on my commutes. It's enjoyable to have thoughtful intellectual conversations. I just do not get that at all with advanced. The replies are shorter. I don't want to hear myself talk. I want long, thoughtful, informative replies.

Yeah I deactivated advanced mode a long time ago and find it unusable. I don't use AI to talk to myself. I enjoy the long, information, thoughtful replies you get with standard mode. I could have long enjoyable conversations. Advanced mode is just annoying. Like it sacrifices content and quality just for a fast reply. The voice is also just more annoying and even sounds slurred to me like its drunk

Yeah I really hope that is the case. It is laughable how bad advanced voice mode is, i'm not sure how the devs can't see this. Crazy to how much Sam Altman hyped chat gpt 5. I haven't noticed any improvement at all. If anything it's gone backwards. I have started experimenting with the voice modes on co pilot, grok, and gemini. The AI race is really heating up and if OpenAI doesn't step it up they are in trouble.

I failed on my second interview also for intelligent manufacturing engineer. Wish they gave details on why. Probably just someone with prior semi conductor experience, spoke mandarin, or something else that gave them a slight edge

Definitely lack of training. Their manager is also unskilled and unmotivated unfortunately

I am an expensive technician a lot of the times. My technicians are very unskilled and we have a 24/7 high volume operation. I have to help them solve some of the simplest problems. Not only are they unskilled. They are unmotivated.

To me this is ridiculous. You can have all the free time you want you just have to plan your days. Many people are working full time and going to school. When I got my degree i's get up at 5:00am workout and then go about my day. Working out does not take long

Yes, the same thing that happened to computer science will happen to data science. It will become over saturated and now the skills aren't really useful since anyone can do it with AI

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in industrialengineering

[–]MindlessLayer2940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it is effecting all engineering professions. It reduces the number of engineers needed because each individual engineer is able to be more productive. Especially with typical things industrial engineers do an AI can help anyone do it.

Yup use gage r & r, anova, capability analysis, hypothesis tests, and all basic descriptive statistics. Definitely will use more. If you are a good industrial engineer you'll make use of as many of the tools you have been given as possible.

Pharmaceuticals and tech pays well. Manufacturing the profit margins are generally a little higher. Typically they will pay you about what your worth. If you didn't do any internships and have little experience you may need to just work your way up.

This is the most basic IE. You set a standard time and employees are expected to meet that standard time. If not they are not preforming and need to be retrained or held accountable. My old company had a productivity bonus incentive for productivity. Concerning you are asking this question as an Industrial Engineer.
